How about you do the legwork and find a selection of monitors which fit your budget, then we can see which ones best!

22" would be best as long as you have room on your desktop. I'm assuming we're talking widescreen here.

Of those definitely the last one, as long as you have a good enough graphics card that can drive it. I like LG monitors, and 1920x1080 in 22" should give a very tight picture. DVI input too.
Worth waiting for it to come back in stock IMO

Wouldn't the screen be a bit too big for gaming tho, as thats what im gonna use this new build

22" too big for gaming? Definitely not! A HD 5770 can handle more resolution than a 22" screen offers.

Eh? Well, I suppose only you can say if you think 22" is too big, but it was you who suggested 19 or 22". I game on a 23" screen and find its perfect, especially for the driving games I enjoy. The more your viosion is filled the greater the immersion in my opinion!

I mean most games dont take a 1920 x 1080 display, i want a monitor that can display the
full game, a usual 22'' is 1680 x 1050, Maybe i might stretch it to the 1920 x 1080..

In my experience all modern games can play at 1920x1200 and higher. Believe me, if you can afford it, you want 1920x1080 or more. More pixels = better image quality.

22'' at 1680 x 1050 is fine, its big enough for most people but it depends how far away you sit from the screen! me im up close at my desk but a 22inch tv would be murder to watch from the sofa

1680x1050 is fine because its not low res but its allows less strain than a full 1080p monitor

get whatever is in your budget i mean i paid £160 for mine last year and now prices have fallen

contrast and brightness are a big factor forgot to mention that!

Wrong, most games these days will do at least 1920x1080. Don't forget that most games released now are cross-platform with the consoles, and are optimised for 16:9 aspect and full HD res.

Older stuff can be set to run centred so no need to stretch the display, apart from a few oddities like GM Rally, which is crap anyway, LOL

-Modern Warfare 2
-Resident Evil 5
-Left4Dead 2
-Crysis
And probally more FPS games

All of those will run at 1920x1080, I've tried all of them bar L4D2 and since thats a Source engine game and the fact that HalfLife 2 runs at full HD I'm pretty certain that will too.

1650x1080 isnt a bad res to run at... full 1080p most games can do that i dont think anyone would disagree

its about budget you could get a decent 1650x1080 for £120 but maybe struggle to find a really good monitor of a larger size and res, you can find them its just harder too

spend a little more if you are concerned

bigger isnt better that is rubbish, if im at my desk im right up close to my screen so i dont NEED a 26inch or whatever... it would be nice but i dont need one

tvs that are far away need to be big

its proportions and viewing distances that come into effect then

Of course bigger is better, but up to a point. Obviously sitting at a desk you don't want to be craning your neck looking at a 30"+ screen. But my 23" is perfect for my desk, and the full HD res means I can view several photos side by side for comparisons, as well as filling my vision for gaming. A 22" with full HD res will give a really tight pixel pitch meaning less AA needed too.

The LG monitor is a VGA input,i just checked LG website and when it says D-sub it means its a VGA but that don't matter in my opinion i bought myself a 22" LG monitor from my super market for £109 and its great.
