I am thinking of picking up this case

I'll be moving an i5 setup into it with 2x 5770s

I believe cooling will not be a problem for a stock i5 750 with turbo enabled and a proper hsf but does anyone with experience have anything to say as far as potential problems I may run into?

I am hoping for a case with small foot print and the ability to be transported from work to home if need be.

I've never owned a silverstone, hows the quality?

I'm praying for a mod free install..

Thanks for the help. :toast:

I've never owned a Silverstone case either but a few friends have Ravens TJ-01/02 and TJ-09 and they seem top quality, comparable to Lian Li. Can't really comment on the case you've chosen however as I've never seen nor heard of that case.

I searched for a review but none came up but the closest thing I found was this (same except isn't V version): http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-229-1.htm
Maybe have a read?

Hope you like your new case, I'm going to buy a new case later in the year as-well. Can't wait to get rid of this disgusting TT V9. :p

Silverstone cases seem to be of good quality, I had the Fortress case and it could withstand a bunch of suicide bombers easily lol. TBH I looked into that case, too, but it was (and is) too expensive for me. Two 5770s room wise wouldn't be a problem I think but bear in mind that in HTPC cases airflow is rare good. I don't know if two cards would be a good idea in the long run BUT what do I know lol. There are some LaScala reviews around, aside from a few differences they're all he same essentially. Have a read or two and then think.

But for me, if I ever come around building a HTPC, Silverstone cases would be the first ones I'd look into. Or Vidabox, but they are nowhere to be found here.

5770 are cool cards and this board has 3 pcie slots which will allow me to space them better than it was on the ud3r x58

this particular case lacks the top vent holes like the nmedia 2000b I am also considering (although it seems to be of lesser quality) the nmedia seems to be a cooler case bec. of the amount of ventilation compared to the silverstone but the nmedia seems to have flimsy panels and what not and Im not trying to have something that will break easily considering Im more into this case for the portability/footprint factor.

but this case does has side vents which could allow me to stream up a fan or two to draw in fresh air to the cards.

I'm all ears if someone else knows of a similar case with ATX mobo/psu compatibilty and better cooling features but I think this one might be good enough... or i will find out the hard way..

There is a Chieftec HTPC case around, I forgot its name, but TPU has a review on it. Its a bit on the not-so-cheap site, but seems to be good. Have a look at TPUs review section.

Maybe consider the Thermaltake Luxa, only 900 dollars

That thing looks like a server rack. But seems to be very well built.

I would be looking into Antec Fuson cases because those have much better cooling possibilities.

in answer to your question heat may be your biggest problem , if i were you i'd look into a upright case with handles like this, but that's just my opinion :)

they do look nice, the fusions, but sadly its mATX. no thanks.
They do have ATX version called Fusion Max... I'm thinking to get one because later on, I'll "transfor" my current (gaming) PC to a powerful HTPC...

I have a GD02 for my htpc, and the build quality was very good. Only thing I did was change the 80mm fans for quieter Noctuas.

It's the first Silverstone I have, but I've liked it so far.

That's a really old design. It will not cool properly. You'll be reaching for the hole saw and the dremel. If you want quality and cooling, go for the Lian-Li posted earlier - the rackmount "ears" are removable. For good portablitiy and cooling, take a look at the NZXT Panzerbox.
