wat is a shroud?

well basicly wat is a shroud and how do i mount/make one?
my understanding is its something that you put inbetween you heatsink and fan to direct the airflow through the heatsink rather then round.
heres an example of my case and wat i want to do if ive got this right could you guys let me no cheers
this image basicly shows what i want to do. I want to mod someform of clear tube to make an airtight seal around my heatsink and case fan is this what a shroud is? and if yes/no will such a contraption actually effect cpu or case temps any?

arrows are airflow and the red thing is what ill be making

Your trying to isolate the CPU fan to exaust directly out. Is that right?

Not a good idea because that side fan is meant to exaust the overall heat from all the case.

Further improvement would be to make airflow come out on top of case as hot air rises.

hmmm which is nion imposible in this case with the psu. Hmm i wonder if i put a side fan in, in the side pannel, and use the same principle with the tube but to the side fan? But then the air flow wont be in a straight line so airflow will be restricted going round the corner so there wont be any real improvements? hmmmm

I don't like using shrouds either.



Perhaps upgrade fans instead?

i would but got no cash, plus the ghetto mods bit inspired me to take duct-tape and cardboard to my rig an see what i can do :rockout:

Oh right, well did you see the post with using dead fans to make shrouds?

You can always try it, you'll be able to tell if it effects yuor system negatively just by checking your temps.
