Bad company 2 on PC or 360

I am definitely picking up this game and was going to preorder for the free upgrade to the limited edition. I am not sure if it will run well on my system though. My system specs are listed on the left. My main concern is that the recommended specs list a quad core cpu.

Would I be better off getting the 360 version?

You should be able to handle it, and then when you get a better chip you'll enjoy the game even more.

it'd be worth trying, and i would always choose pc for shooters over console, but that's me.

the part that worries me is your ram, 2gb should be enough for the game, but IDK about the OS & game. I would try it on 7 x64.

if you pre-order through steam, you can try the beta. if it doesn't work, you can get a refund as long as you return before release date. I did it with STO. (not just Steam, I believe D2D and the others have this policy as well, but don't know for sure.

it only uses about 60% of my i7, @ 2.7 GHz. but I'm not sure how the i7 at that compares to a dual core @ 3.2

I think the mechanics of BC2 fit the PC much better, unless they tweak the sniper a LOT on the console I can see sniping being impossible. As it is now, its very very particular to your sights elevation above your target for bullet drop (great realism and fun on the pc), frustrating as hell on the console.

I bought MW2 for the 360 because I didn’t want to deal with hackers in the matchmaking system on the PC. But after hitting 70 and playing on the 360 with a bunch of whiny annoying 12-17 year olds…I wish I got it on the PC.

Your specs meet minimum requirements but this game feels like its geared towards quad core. Having said, that my back up PC, a Phenom X3 Gateway with a GTS 250, can handle the game fine on medium settings @ 1440x900.

Obviosuly the game handles better on my main rig in my specs.

I really like MW2 on the xbox because it is really catered to the console and there are no cheaters at all! so I play that on the console but there is a distinct way that BC2 plays that makes it really focused towards the PC.

when I do get money for upgrades I wanted to go with a Phenom II platform with DDR3 RAM. It wouldn't make much sense to get more DDR2 now just to replace it in a few months. (I will upgrade when I get some money owed to me around tax refund time).

most FPS's are better controlled trough mouse/keyboard [PC], just some FPS [and normally 3rd person view] are better on consoles.

You should play the game just fine, your procs a bit old, but I was playing in an Athlon II 240 @ 3.0ghz and playing it maxed out at 1920x1200. Your issues is going to be 2GB RAM, otherwise you should be fine, but 2GB just isn't enough for a gaming machine anymore.

You should try the demo first before deciding. This game is running almost 100% faster for some people using quads vs duals. There are people running the game well in dual cores but they are usually over 3.4Ghz. The final version will be optimized better for duals but it will still favor quad core CPUs.

The game will still be decent on x360.

Really, people were having dual core problems? Huh mine sliced right through the game, I'm running the 720 BE now, but I honestly noticed a very little increase in frames after switching procs, got the 720 running at 3.3ghz.

are you serious, my backup pc playing the game @1600x900 handles the game perfectly with no aa with the highest settings

This might not be the best place to get objective opinions on console vs PC anything.

But even from an objective standpoint, I think PC is the platform best suited to FPS play. So I'm voting PC.
