Core 2 Quad to launch November 2nd, and will be available November 14th.

The Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core Processor QX6700 is going to paper launch at 6AM European time November 2nd. This means that November 2nd is the earliest that Intel will allow reviews of its latest addition to the Core 2 Duo family to be published. The QX6700 and other quad core processors from Intel should be available on November 14th. Samples of the quad core processor show very little if any gaming improvement, however there is a tremendous improvement in rendering and multimedia.

THis is strange. Its like dual-core hasn't been completely fully well used and people is already releasing quad-cores. I can really see the same thing with Intel/Nvidia. They rush to get latest technologies without completely knowing them inside out. Like humans.... we havn't completely explored our entire eearth and we're already going to planets. And its the deep sea if you wanna know.

there was a test review on this cpu a while back, and it did have a small 5% improvement over the e6800.

funny thing is that dual core is only about and year and a half old.

This is for the server market, not a bunch of home gamers. Think about a server farm, where you could effectively DOUBLE your processing power, by swapping out a CPU.

i really want to know how much the cheapest version cost that is comming out in noverber becuase i am ready to buy a new computer right now and i will next week (except graphic card) but i dont know if i should wait for quad core, i can only afford e6600 and no more but how much will the cheapest quad core cost more than the e6600

Most programs aren't even dual core optimized yet now they have quad core.

Unless you're heavily into rendering, or running servers. Then obviously it's a waste of money and energy.

Yo CD you might want to look into the X2 4400+ which is around the FX-55's price.
I am going to wait a lil longer and see if prices drop even more.

I really wish the FX-60 and FX-62 would drop tremendously, like lets say in the $200 range

Next-Gen games (DX10) will support DC or even MC giving a 15-30% boost over single core because they will use the second core for Physics and other stuff.
