My new wireless N router

Ive always used the 'freebie' routers that get thrown at me by my ISP (AOHell). But for a while now Ive been randomly losing connection when the router is under stress. I have the following connected to my router:

2 x Notebook's
1 x Netbook
2 x XBOX 360's
1 x PS3

And at any one time at least 4/5 of this devices are accessing the Internet (wired or wirelessly)

So, I decided to bite the bullet and spend some cash on a wireless N router. So I opted for the affordable 'D-Link DSL-2740R'. It may not be a looker, but it runs like a champ and so far it has handled everything Ive thrown at it.

So, if your looking for a cheap, but decent router, give one of these a try :D

many congratulations!
I've had terrible luck with routers until a long while ago I got the netgear wireless G router (i know no other numbers attached with it sorry) and the thing is amazing. I've never had a dropped signal in 3 years of use!

Isnt this a tech forum, where we talk about things like hardware? No need to be snotty!

Response to the question - Yeah, It is a 'tech' forum.

Response to the sentence - I originally thought you had a question. Sorry that it came across snotty. That wasn't my original intention.

Dunno about the quality of "free routers", but I have a friend who daisy chains like 4 "free" router to support 7 laptops (lives with his friends), a PS3 and some other things like phones and they work well. Probably his router to toys ratio is high.

LOL, sounds cool :D Ive always been happy with the freebie routers that ISPs give you when you sign up for any length of time. But I thought it was time to buy a 'proper' one as I was experiencing random disconnections :) (my fault entirely, for running too much at any one time on a single router).

single router or multiple routers makes no difference, let me give an example.

Router one has all PC's on it, lets say 100 connections (someones torrenting :p)

You have two routers, even split. Router two has 50 of the connections. Because they still have to pass through router 1, router 1 still has 100 connections to deal with.

adding more routers really gives you no benefits (access points are simpler, same benefits).

I had a feeling that adding more routers would just 'extend' the network, not improve it.

PS: that would be me on the torrents
