A reference model if you want to volt it and get the clocks to a 5870 speed.
I just ordered the visiontek from newegg, be here in a few days.

EDIT: idk where to get one in the Uk sorry. I'm sure someone does.

some companys like ASUS and sapphire use this design then but a sticker on top of the cooler but it is still reference. a NON-reference card does NOT allow for voltage tweaks.

if it has the cooler like the MSi one then its a reference card, that means that you can riase voltage and overclock it insanely

I vote for the MSI one. I just think the reference cooler is better because it dumps all the heat outside. Plus, you get excellent overclocking support in MSI Afterburner (with proper voltage control and all).

PCS+ has an edge with noise i guess but that's pretty much it. Price may also chnage the balance...

I'm going to swim against the current and vote for the Powercolor. I have a Club3d 4850 (basically same company, same cards, somberer cooler cowls) and it's been very good to me. If noise is a factor to be considered, the PCS+ seems to have the best cooling solution amongst performance cards, according to all the reviews and based on my own experience with the 4850. You won't be able to tweak voltages and I'm not sure how high you could push it on stock voltage, assuming you want to overclock, but I still veer towards the Powercolor.

Ok didn't order it yet but instead I'm trying a 4870x2 and compared to my GTX275 which I still have, its crap :/ gonna start a thread now to see if its where it should be at.

Tell us how it goes with what you get. I've been also thinking the Powercolor PCS+, as it has the awesome 92mm fan, saving the trouble of aftermarket cooler. (well actually it's no trouble, I like after market coolers and chancing them , more price issue

)

Don't like it that it's 3pin motherboard connector and not straight for GPU but would be pretty perfect for reference 5850. But want the 5850 prices to drop before I get one.

I wonder why no one cares to modify and improve reference cooler. I hate these "dump heat inside" coolers where there is plenty of room to improve reference coolers and keep the exhausting system.
It would be perfectly posible to extend the fin surface and add additional heatpipe without increasing the length.
