ATI Radeon HD 5850 1680x1050 wasted?

First I apologize for my English but I am Italian.
I own a monitor SyncMaster T220 (22 "max resolution 1680x1050) and I was wondering if the ATI Radeon HD5850 was not wasted on those resolutions. The HD5770 graphics card would be enough to play up even the most demanding games with that kind of monitors, or at least the difference between the two cards you would notice anyway (considering that there are over 100 € difference between the two VGA).
I would agree to buy the HD5770 now and then, maybe in 2 years to change a monitor with Full HD and then upgrade the video card. Thank you

In a state of flux...
Buy the 5850 now and upgrade your monitor in two years, not the other way around. :)

+1. Getting 5850 means you don't need to think about upgrading for a long time, and in about 2 years time 5850 will become mid/low range anyway, so it will be a better buy for now.
