Looking for burning software

I'm in need of new burning software (preferably free). I already use cdburnerxp, and I think it's great, but for some reason any time I burn a disc with it, my uncle's dvd burner won't read it... if he burns a disc on his other machine with it, the dvd burner won't read it either... if he tries to use cdburnerxp with the dvd burner that doesn't read discs burned with it, it fails every time. This makes it very difficult for me whenever I burn something for him...

Anyone know of any other good burning software?

BurnAware Free is a free CD, DVD, Blu-ray Disc burning software.

I normally burn at a low speed setting, and I only have DVD+R, no DVD-R... what's the difference between the two?

DVD+R is intended to be more compatible with more DVD players, though at this point it seems to be about even with DVD-R, which remains the most compatible computer-burned DVD format. Both are a write-once format: once you've burned the data onto that DVD the disk is forever frozen with that information. Basically the same these days, same size and speeds.
