OMFG YOU GUYS JUST PLAIN OUT ROCK. I mean I've seen this kind of kindness here before, but I seriously wasnt expecting this. I'll be sending out PM's tomorrow morning after fully looking though the list. The boy is gonna just gonna shit himself. I wish you coulda saw his face when he saw my computer, and then again when I said something about him being able to play games on it(I swear he looked like he got extremely sexually excited).

TBH, I'm jealous . I am now a computer maniac thanks to TPU for a year now, and I also love to game.... but guess what? I did not have the money to pay for a computer, or a dad nice enough to pay for one for me, even though he has alot of money to spare. I kinda jumped off a cliff by being in the process of buying a very good computer with most of my savings, and I am now hoping I can get a job again... I just couldn't hold any longer, a computer enthusiast and gamer without ever having a proper rig?

So I wish the best to you, and I thank you for doing this for the kid, for I myself have been in that position (still kinda am lol, I'm 17, and certainly can't afford to move out on my own), and I fully understand Sure the people who are donating are GREAT and nice and all, but let us not forget that BarbaricSoul, is in fact, the real deal here

Ok, looking though the list, only thing it looks like I'm lacking in is video card. I do have a 8800gt laying around, but if anyone one has anything better suited to be matched up with a phenom II 965 system, it would be greatly appreciated.


BTW, the very first thing the boy will do with this computer will be to register on TPU and post a thank you to TPU for being so AWESOME!!!!!

Thanks n-ster, but I'm sure mom will make sure I get all the recognition I need. Imagine how that's gonna go. They think I'm gonna try to put together a old 939 x2 4800 system. And now by the looks of this thread, he may end up with a modern high-end AMD quad system with future upgradability, and possibly even a 22" LCD. Aside from my 5870, this system will be able to match my system. Did I say you guys ROCK?

n-ster, you are not alone, as much as I like customising rigs (plenty of proof here) I have not actually build one from scratch up, only tinkering about existing builds. You are 17, not too much younger than I am, and my recommendation is for you to try to get your ass in a well paying job (by getting into college or otherwise) and earn so much money as to make your dad look like a bankrupt.

That's an excellent idea. You won't need $300 for a decent gpu but get something that supports dx11. That way he can play all the latest games with ease.

My girlfriend's PC is still kicking, old Athlon X2 with 4650 1GB, runs all games that she plays smoothly ex. Spore, WoW, Tomb Raider Underworld, Sims 3, Left 4 Dead, CoD WaW etc. although not sure how it will run sandbox games like Crysis etc.

So in reality a 8800gt still kicks ass

Ok, so far I have a Phenom II 965, a Cooler Master 752 and a 22" LCD coming from kenkickr, a Asus M3A76-CM motherboard from blkhogan, and I've sent a PM to Paulieg about the 4 gigs Ballistix RAM and 160 gig HD. Next peice to select will be a PSU. For the case, I think I'm gonna take Justinn up on his offer of the thermaltake lanbox(I'll be PM'ing you bro). As for the video card, if I can afford it after paying for shipping of everything, I'll pick him up a 5770. If not, he can deal with the 8800gt for alittle while til I can get him a 5770.

i know how you feel..i have two stepsons that have an absolute turd for a dad..both have their challenges ..adhd and what not. if it wasnt for this site , i could have never built them the machines they have atm. or the arcade we built...the people here are great, and i recommend this site to all my friends. sorry i didnt have any spare parts to help with...i used my last stuff for a build for my parents.

Man, there is no way I was expecting this kind of generousity. Words can not describe the feeling of warmth and caring I'm feeling right now(and no, mom isn't with me right now ). You guys and girls just continue to amaze me. Whenever I refer someone to this site, I always describe the community here as the friendliest tech community there is. This series of events just proves that to be true. I've thoroughly enjoyed my first 2 years here, and hope to enjoy my time here for many years to come.
