Trying to pick between two platforms...

I'm looking at the following two platforms... Which do you guys think would be best for a student? I want optimal performance out of whichever. I know I won't get the best, but I want the best between the two! Either would be upgraded to 4gb of RAM and HDD space doesn't matter.

Both are nearly the same machines. My vote goes to the Asus EeePC since it's Ion Graphics couple with a Dual core Atom processor edge out the MSI.

Is ION better than 3200 graphics? I was going to say the MSI as well due to the better processor, but when it comes to watching video and stuff like that, either cpu would do.

last time i checked my older athlon single core beats the atom dual core. that thing is garbage...

Can you find me a real laptop under 500$ that has a battery life over 5 hours? If so, I'll take it. I'm just having trouble with that part. I have 6 back to back courses and need something that'll last me for Pokemon and paper writing during that time.

well if you dont have money there is always the trusty pen and paper

I am not too sure about getting a netbook now, because the current gen netbook has outlived its usefulness. Between the two, I will pick the MSI because its much more powerful.

this seem alot better option then a netbook,the quality.....well my cousin has the MSI GX623x for a half a year now and it is working flawlessly and it looks kickass

I don't care about looks. The battery life on that computer looks like it leaves a lot to be desired...
