Does installing new drivers undo the SLIPatch? I mean, how do I install the new drivers?
1. Uninstall SLIPatch
2. Uninstall older drivers
3. Install new drivers
4. Reinstall SLIPatch
Or can I pass step 1 & 4 and only do 2 & 3??

Just uninstall the older drivers (and reboot) and install the new ones.

I haven't had time to post any results yet but I did a quick run through of all my games with the newest drivers and I am happy to note that at least 75% of my games showed a marked increase in performance. As previously noted, BFBC2 has the biggest jump out of all the games I have. Borderlands didn't show a big increase but the minimum framerates hover around 35 now isntead of dipping in the low 20's. Just Cause 2 show stable framerates at 38+ with high detail settings at 1920x1080 instead of dipping in the low 20's.

Still no SLI profile for Splinter Cell Conviction or Settlers 7. I have a feeling that Nvidia has something against Ubisoft (DRM Hate maybe?) with the lack of attention with their games. Split Second has great framerates now at Very High detail settings. It was not playable with the 197+ drivers before at Very High detail settings.

Unfortunately, Nhancer is not compatible with the new drivers. I went to the website and the dev said that he is aware of the incompatibility and is working on a fix.

Well, under win7 64, I uninstalled current driver, rebooted, installed new 257 driver, rebooted, went into cp and enabled sli, done! You probably don't need the reboot each time, but I like to play it safe....
And no, I didn't have to uninstall the sli patch to do that.

Now I have to reboot to XP64 and change drivers, a little more complicated. Have fun guys! I'll let anyone who cares to know how to do it under XP64 next....

I didn't even uninstall the old drivers. I just installed the new ones right over the old ones. Come to think of it now, it's probably a good idea to uninstall completely and run driver cleaner to clean out all the old remnants from the registry. Reboot after uninstalling and cleaning then install the new drivers.

Think I'll do that soon as I get home. Thanks!:)

Yes, you do not need to uninstall the slipatch to do this. I've just tested under XP64, also works, now I'm ready to game! Still only single monitor support under XP64 still, booooo! :

Seems to have increased sli performance for me. BFBC2 with hbao, all high, 16x af, 4x forced aa at 1920x1200 gets me very short clips at around 47fps but most gameplay at 70-80fps, seems faster.... need to tweak more to up the lows still.
Edit: this is under XP64, Vista and Win7 can't match it. DX10 and 11 take too much of a performance hit.

Wow! This has developed alot since my last read through the thread. So now all that needs done is to install SLIPatch and then install drivers?

Has anyone tested this yet on an AM3 7 series chipset? Contemplating a 2nd 9600GT :D

EDIT:

If you have the drivers existing, all I would need to do is install SLIPatch then shutdown, install the 2nd card?

Yup ^^ That's it. When you reboot after installing the 2nd card, choose the "Windows SLI enabled" OS in the boot manager.

XP is only DX9, and it means no Anti-aliasing in BFBC2 today. It explains alot. U can tweak the ini files for BFBC2, to use DX9 and you get same fps in Vista/Win7.

With my kitchen PC I'm also able to play BFBC2 at ALL HIGH(HBOA on etc!) with a HD4850 512MB (with 70€ Dual Core Pentium E6500 oc'd to 3.8Ghz) . I think all gaming cards are OK for DX9..not yet for DX10 or, if even possible, DX11...Too much effects for current cards.

Driver fallied....

Hey guys,
My old driver failed and i have no choice but to re-install it...
Being a dumb ass i didn't read that i had to install the SLI patch, so i just installed the new driver and then installed the SLI path, for some reason SLI doesn't work, any advice?

I would properly uninstall all drivers. Then install 197.45 drivers, then install SLIPatch and wait for WHQL drivers :p. Or, if you don't want to wait, uninstall 197.45 and install new drivers.
It's what I would do as I don't know if we can install SLIPatch after installing new drivers...

Yes, I had some problems in games with this driver too. Flashing textures in BFBC2 and COD:MW2. I reverted to the previous 197.45, and now I have no issues.

I can test those tomorrow afternoon CET. What's the biggest risks? Pretty sure I can but I'll ask: can I go back to 0.7a if there's a problem?
