I dont understand why ATI is ignoring 3D support. If there is a time when a ATI fan feels bad is when thinking about 3D. and ATI is no way neat Nvidia.

After Avatar movie, 3D is big and ATI really needs to do something about it. they should add Interlaced, Anaglyph (red/cyan) & page flip.

which is good for people with shutter glasses and Anaglyph (red/cyan) for users who wants 3D without spending more than a $ or so.

Please ATI, Open your EYE... hear what your buyers have in mind and make us happy for making ATI as out choice.

:respect:

If I don't like wearing glasses or sunglasses outside in the real world why would I want to wear glasses just to play a game or watch a movie? I'm just speakin for myself here but people I've talked to about the Samsung 3d TV preview @ Best Buy have said the same thing about the whole wearing glasses to watch a movie.

It is a experience a 46" overpriced TV isn't worth justifying. Sorry but Avatar 3D on a Imax screen was sweet, but on a 46" it just sucked ass, and the seating range for the optimal experience means you have crap for friends over.

I prefer my 46" Toshiba to have friends around watching movies hardware accelerated and upscaled from netflix, amazon or other sources.

There's notting wrong w/ wearing 3D glasses or sunglasses. In fact, it is better for me to wear sunglasses when I go out in a sunny day, or I'd love to wear this if I'm reading text on a full white background for long periods.

Digital Performance Eyewear

Does anyone have one of those things? It should work like a screen filter heh.

IMO your concern isn't valid, it's OK and comfortable to wear glasses for specific things.

I buy cheap sunglasses as I lose them, have two children, and friends come over who have children. So how much are replacement 3D glasses that aren't uncomfortable, keep in mind most work by a specific polarization applied to the lens, so your performance eyewear is NOT going to work.

Steevo, they're circularly polarised, the lenses are simply two layers of polarising material stuck together back to back, so you then just need a comfortable frame, you can get a pair of glasses with a generic prescription in them for £5 and they're reasonably comfy so probably a bit less due to lower materials costs. For a really comfy pair probably about £20 and easily repairable too.
Edit: The realD ones that Human_Error mentions are also quite comfy and bloody durable (took about ten minutes to get one of the lenses out, although it was under the desk in the middle of a physics lesson so we could ask the member of staff how it worked...)

Just go and get tridef or iz3d drivers and hey presto you have 3d support for any 3d screen on both ati and nvidia hardware. ATi have said they will not directly provide the 3d drivers but will encourage 3rd parties to interface with the CCC and ati drivers to give the effect, which is what has happened.

I'm not going to get into another discussion on if 3d is needed or not - everything has been discussed more than enough and people just need to respect what others want or don't want out of their entertainment.

On the argument on 3d glasses which are cheap and comfy to wear - i have the reald polarised glasses from the cinema and they work fine with my polarised zalman 3d screen, as well as the 3d polarised tv from LG (which i don't have yet but i've tried the realD glasses with it in a store and they work fine - so get polarised if you want cheap, comfy glasses).

Ehhh. http://www.3dstereo.com/viewmaster/glp.html Cheap polarized glasses are directionally oriented, most are not circular.

Remove lenses and hope they fit in a comfortable pair? Or keep buying cheap ones that feel like crap, or buy decent ones and replace every time they get lost, scratched, etc... woozy feeling so add alcohol... and then trips to the bathroom and then don't lose the glasses on your way past the fridge, or when you take them off in the dark, don't smudge them....

I would just rather watch a real movie that is engrossing than buy gimmicks to resell bullshit.

And I've been using my Oakley Straight Jacket for years as I don't lose them. LOL did I asked you about your family? If you're losing your glasses, you need to double check everything you carry on and find different ways of thinking. If you still forget everything / have a prob with your memory, then a doc can help you. I'm serious.

No, there's no special polarization. They all use polarized shades that work in any case. Just like how one screen filter works on every monitor. LMAO... go bash someone else dude.

Cheap polarised glasses sold as "3d polarised glasses" are actually practically all circular polarised now - there are no linearly polarised 3d screens for sale anymore and cinemas who use polarisation all use circular polarised glasses.

Plus you can buy circular polarised filters to put over/on ordinary glasses if you want a high quality pair.

As relatively new a glasses wearer (only needed glasses for 6 months now) i didn't find i had an issue losing glasses, nor do i find i lose my 3d glasses either (smudging them isn't an issue a quick wipe with a sleeve or a cleaning cloth doesn't fix).

3d immersion technology/visuals will never catch on to mainstream until glasses aren't needed at all. I personally won't spend the money on the monitor or tv and glasses, etc - and i waste money on tech all the time...

no glasses is the key.

I'm just speakin for myself here but people I've talked to about the Samsung 3d TV preview @ Best Buy have said the same thing about the whole wearing glasses to watch a movie.

its not about people who don't want to ware 3Dglasses. its for people who is not worried of wearing a glass. i would go for the extra mile to get that 3D experience and i don't get that with my ATI. i was playing AVATAR PC GAME with ED glasses using a 19" CRT and all i can say is WOW. movies are not GR8 but games are... i love it and i am sure there will be thousands of people who will be sharing my same thought.

Is it so hard for ATI to add a 3Dshutter or interlaced support with all those programmers ??

or they can add a extra software like the packages they provide for video conversion etc.

just 3 formats would help. DLP support only works for guys with lots of money and countries where you can buy such monitors.

in India i was not able to find a 3D monitor and i had to buy a 24" BenQ 2400 HD LCD for my ED glasses and was of no use.

the monitor coated me 350$ and ya its expensive in India :( (Did not work with ED glasses.)

and now i bought a secondhand CRT for 40$ and the glasses are working GR8 and now the problem is, all i can play is avatar and the third party 3D software is not for Free. the IZ3D interlaced driver is 45$ and still wont work with Dx11. :banghead:

i am sure i am not the only person who needs 3D support. or others are still using Nvidia just for that like my friends... hmmm:shadedshu

Just go and get tridef or iz3d drivers and hey presto you have 3d support for any 3d screen on both ati and nvidia hardware.

why would i spend 45$ on a software when Nvidia is giving it for Free ??

i don't in any way disagree that ATI is lacking in the 3D tech dept - but I think with glasses it is not as big as it is being made out to be. how many people do you know actually going out and buying a new tv/monitor and a set of glasses?

ATI chose eyefinity and nvidia chose 3d.... next generation the techs will be refined and worth using , but until then they are not going to split up their r&d budget even more when the market is just not there. same reason Nvidia surround vision is nothing

I think the whole 3d goggles thing is a bit of a gimmick not to mention that you need a new monitor for it & monitors that do support the 3d function (120Hz) are still expensive nevermind the 3d goggles. and thats probably one of the major hurdles as to why it isnt more popular - people dont want to fork out £300-500 more for a new monitor when their old one is still working.

an upgrade is an upgrade however, but ive read reviews that pushing out 120hz per lens when gaming takes some serious horsepower - another reason why people are hesitating.

Im not saying people wont buy into the 3d goggle thing. people will but it will be a minority at the most.

Lets not live in a bubble. 3D isn't important for the majority of people out there. Do you want an example of how people may react when it's brought up? Take a look at the E3 presentation of Ghost Recon at about 1:08:10. After mentioning it twice it got no applause. Now take note that when it was told that it will get co-op support it got some applause but when 3D was mentioned the applause stopped. When it was mentioned again, nothing!

Personally, I played a demo at Frys of a 3d setup, and I was actually impressed. Before that, I too was hoping this gimmick would die soon.

If it dies, I won't be sad, I don't have the gpu or monitor for 120fps action.

i don't in any way disagree that ATI is lacking in the 3D tech dept - but I think with glasses it is not as big as it is being made out to be. how many people do you know actually going out and buying a new tv/monitor and a set of glasses?

ATI chose eyefinity and nvidia chose 3d.... next generation the techs will be refined and worth using , but until then they are not going to split up their r&d budget even more when the market is just not there. same reason Nvidia surround vision is nothing

do i really have to ?? what if i have a big CRT and ED or 3D viewing kit ?? its just 100$ and its GR8 man... you feel like u r there while playing.. and Nvidia has their own Eyefinity which is Surround tech and a 3D monitor will cost 300$ but 3 or 6 normal monitors cost much higher than that.. so its basically what people need. u may need Eyefinity, but I need 3D. and i am sure 10% of Ati customers are wanting 3D and some are still with Nvidia for that reason.

Dont forget the Old CRT. a 19 or a 22" CRT will do just fine my Friend.. :)
