rightio, so as far as I am aware, phase cooling a cpu is the same/similar to cooling as freezer,

Well I have a freezer which is about to die (fridge part of it anyway) so I was thinking why waste it? Has anyone tried this before? I would love to hit neg temps but would be interested in using this if possible to save me some mullah...

Advice needed please.

Sweet, need to look into parts/what I need, any advice?

I've never fully looked into water/phase cooling but from what I get it works like this?

can anyone suggest a uk supplier or a company who supply phase-change cooling parts?

The biggest problem you will have to look out for is condensation - Phase change cooling attracts a LOT of condensation due to the extremely low temperatures it produces.

This eventually, in most cases, kills the system its installed in, unless you are EXTREMELY careful with insulating every part of the "cold" loop.

Of the 3 Phase Change systems I personally knew of ALL of them died within less than a year from unexpected condensation :\

All this has been tried before with failure as the outcome. A true phase change unit does work and looks similar to this... -111 for this one.

Been using them for a long time here. No one I know uses them for 24/7 - benching mostly.

Here is the cure for any condensation worries no matter what cooling method:

Eraser has nothing on this and it is easily applied/removed. :toast:

Unless you have extensive HVAC or refrigerator condenser/pump/evaporator repair experience, you've got a LOT of research to do to gut a system and rebuild it for another purpose.

It requires a lot of tools and equipment and the knowledge to use them. If you have any friends in the business, see if they can help of offer advice.

A homemade chiller would be a more viable option for him I believe. :toast:

ha, I have mostly non of that, but my grand papa in law luckily does, said it'd be a doddle, (worst comes to worst we destroy an already broken freezer, lmao)

I'm contemplating looking into it, Even if just for the fun, I'll obviously run on an old system and not my Phennom II rig.

I'm open to all options, I'd be happy with my rig sitting around 0/-5 degree area, I'm not after "mass" cooling,

It doesnt get much more homemade than this lol...

I used this for a long time when I first got involved with overclocking. It is still useful from time to time...just add ice/water and clock away. Just what you need to get your feet "wet" initially. ;)

That's the spirit. And worse case, you'll learn a lot too. Refrigeration is a totally "cool" science, there's a mix of everything from physics, thermodynamics, electromechanics, chemistry and more.

A Boreas TEC from Coolit fits the bill then. Mind you, it will run you about $500 US tho.

Yes it was clocked pretty good there. Coolit is located in Canada. Depending on your chip and the amount of overclock you could expect temps 0 to low teens.

Coolit Boreas looks good, £300ish uk not too bad!! I'd probably have it rigged outside of my case though.

I have two of them - One in a TJ07 Silverstone and another I use on a bench with a torture rack.

Some screens of cpu's I have been messing with on the Boreas...
