I watched the promo video. They pronounce it ah-soos? I thought it was ay-suhs. I've been pronouncing it wrong for like 10 years? O_O

Anyway, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy all need to make accounts here so we can make requests for stuff like this.

I think both pronounciations are fine. Asus is shortened from pegasus, just like one of their subsidiaries is Pegatron! They really like the Greek mythology themes.

They really skimped out on the cooler, they could've used something like the Thermaltake Frio or something to at least match the red thing going on. :shadedshu

also anyone notice the ridiculous shipping on the mars cards what is neweggs shipping now a % of the price
i dont see how it could cost 15 bucks to ship a gfx card and only 20 to ship that case, weird

$15 to ship that card is a reasonable price, that thing is bloody heavy. It literally comes in a large briefcase. Shipping for the case is $20 because it's discounted.

Intel Core i7-980X along with two 295 cards is where I would like to go ATM. Just needs some pay days to add up for a bit. I also want to raid 4 SDD drives on a PCI-E card.

I want a crunching folding while being able to game hard at the same time machine. Of course on the border line of crashing into fire/RMA hehe

For a rig at this price, I think the case is superbly and royally fugly.

At the discount, the case is technically free. Just sell it and move it to another case since it's only a combo. :D

Not sure if all the upgrades are worth it lol. I'd just buy an SLI board and get dual 460s instead.

Lol if they sell just 10 that's $65,000. I don't know what kind of profit margin there is but I'm sure it's pretty significant.

The 1.5's and 2tb's seem to be pretty flaky yet, out of 17 I have ordered 13 have been RMA'd in under 3 months.

Yes, they will sell...

I just built a workstation that went out the door for a hair over $13k, another one will be built down line and they will be switched to server 08R2 and be clustered.

Seems to me you'd do better putting the parts you really want in your cart and then just seeing which ones have combo deals. You'd get money off still and not buy anything you didn't want or need. The drive arrangement in that combo is idiotic.

I would think 3 480's would beat two Ares thanks to superior scaling in drivers in high resolutions. Anybody have any details on such a comparison?

not necessarily. getting enough liquid pumping through that would be pretty pricey.

I have my MB CPU and SLI setup watercooled :) ..Blocks are about 100 each, pump is 60, fittings get pricey if you go compression etc, then tubing is cheap, and res is like 60 bucks. Plus you can OC a bit higher being on liquid

And the parts will last longer thanks to less thermal degradation.

those prices are unfortunately on top of everything else. so yes, its relatively little if your investing that much in a rig, but that's still 300 for blocks, 120 for pumps (that's a long loop to do on one pump) then rads aren't cheap either.

but I think the main reason newegg did not include water cooling is because they ave a very limited selection of water solutions. (cause if they could've jacked that price more, they would've)

Um , you can run 1 single loop with certain pumps. Rads range from 60-120 bucks, pending size of rad and how many you want. With that price tage they are offering that computer i could build something that would leave it in the waters and function 24/7 :)
