is your hard drive sata or ide?

does the windows disc actually boot?

could you post your full specs or fill in the system spec in the user control panel too please.

we will try to help but we need more info.

post and tell me what your board is.

does windows say it cant find your drive then?,is your bios seeing the drive?

it may need the driver for your sata controller when you try and install windows, which you have to press f6 when windows installer first runs.the driver will need to be on a floppy disc.if you post what board you have we may be able to help you find the driver.have you still got the original mboard cd? you can sometimes get the driver from that disc(using another machine).

fill in your sys spec in user cp or post your specs please.

EDIT-thx,look at your hard drive, has it got a little thin probs red cable,or a flat or thick round one?

Windows probably doesn't have the driver for your sata.... You are probably going to need a disk with the driver on it and install it when it asks you for a third party driver press F6 or whatever it is.

I had that issue with a nice DFI board in a machine I built a few weeks back. Bios saw the drive, but windows wouldn't install and actually boot off it.... Funniest problem I have ever seen in my life, but my fault I didn't pay attention to the driver disk.

The only other way around this is to install Windows on a ATA drive, then install the SATA drivers. Then mirror the drive back on to the SATA and remove the ATA drive. I had to do this before because I didnt have a floppy drive in hand.

Heh that sucks too, I had a bad floppy drive and literally pulled the top off and played with pressure from my finger tips on the head to get it to read the disk, took about 35 minutes.... Needless to say really lucky and I ordered a set of floppy drives the next day.

Its a good thing that SeaGate gives the mirror tool away for free. It has saved me many times.

if you put the cd in a machine and let it auto run,it might have an option to create a raid driver disc on a floppy.you can only install the driver from a floppy, unfortunatly windows wont install the driver from anything but a floppy.

search on the disc if it is'nt on the main menu's anywere.it WILL be on that disc somewere.

it will be a program to create a raid/sata driver disc(which will ask you to insert a blank floppy disc).

:) on the MB cd open it up find a file 'drivers' open it inside find file 'viaraid' open file 'driverdisk' ....have blank formatted floppy in A drive.....double click on the 'makedisk' utility badaboom instant disk for F6 option;) ;) :rockout:
view the 'readme' file inside the 'viaraid' file for more info
