Reminder About Questionable Threads/Posts

Recently a spammer got through unnoticed for awhile. Some people resonded to the quote and/or quoted his post.

Please do not do this. If you suspect there is something amiss with a post, just report it (the little triangle at the bottom of the user's information. If you hover over it, it says "Report Post").

The tools we have allow us to eradicate all of the spammers posts, but if you quote or respond to one of the posts, there is a lot more clean-up involved. This becomes even more difficult if the posts are in a section in which no moderators online at the time have access to.

I would rather have 50 members report a post than one respond to/quote it.

I'm not calling anyone out here. It's just a reminder how you can help us mods keep TPU squeeky clean.

When you say got through unnoticed for awhile do you mean they were subtle about it or that people were just lazy about reporting it?

It means they were able to post several times in a variety of threads before it was noticed as spam. The posts and username did not fit the typical spammer profile.
(Yes, profiling is legal here on TPU

)
