Right, now I am home and not on my mobile sneaking a post here and there at work I will try to answer some of the questions with a bit more indepth, starting with guitarfreaknations about the KV,
As I said the KV can be used well but in the sense of a Heavy Tank it is one of the worst and is a failure, (in game it is perfect as it is like the Real life version)
The KV is slow, heavy but lacks the armour thickness of the other heavies, 2/3 hits from a good med, your gone 1 from a heavy if your lucky maybe 2, but do not count the KV out.
Speed is not a good option with the KV and the same/or best tactic for the T-28 should be used, however whilst the T28 had some speed it lacked armour again so was a perfect sniping tank. the KV can fill this role perfectly, the problem is armament with her.
KV starts of with a very basic gun which cannot shoot through much, the 76mm Zis-5, with a pen of around 86mm once you take into armour slope it'll have a hard time, Ignore my mistake in the previous thread and ignore the 122mm, go straight for the KV-2 turret, ignore the 152mm gun, big and does a lot of damage but at 2.7rounds per minute and less penetration than the 107mm you'll get fucked, lower accuracy with slow reload speed means you need to rely on close quarters one hit kill punch,
107mm Zis-6 is a fucking beast, over 7rds per minute with good pen at 167mm on a standard round means you can (if crafty) take on heavies, Tigers, KV's, Heck I even took out a King Tiger (Tiger II) with my KV (1v1, so it is possible) this is the weapon for you, good accuracy followed by a quick aiming time means its the best weapon for the job.
Tactics with the KV are more defencive, do not move with the main line of heavies/mids, seems crewl but they can take more punishment so let them take it, sit behind and snipe (if you attack) bushes/trees/walls to hide behind and ambushes are the best with this tank, it's slow and with the KV-2 turret has a low traverse speed at 15deg/sec so make sure your flanks are protected.
Hope this helps those KV users.
For those wondering if the game is good, yes I would say so. Is it a tank simulator, Hell no, is it Arcade, I wouldn't say so, I would draw it in between,
Tank sims seem to mostly be about mastering 100 million different commands and keys, this is simple, WASD to move, mouse to point and aim, click to fire, mouse wheel to zoom in and numbers to choose ammo type,
Arcadish, a little bit not perfectly realistic but for the most part I would say there is a fine balance of realism/arcade that has been achieved with this game. your crews can get injured and you can lose a track to be disabled, fuel tank hit and lose fuel/fire, engines fire and heck you can hit an ammo rack and kill a tank in one, like in real life, however the health, with HP is Arcadish, lack of stupid sim controls draw it more into an arcade game but with a perfect sense of realism.
I give this game a big big thumbs up, especially for a free to play this has to be one of the best I've ever played,
Hope this all helps
