AMD released six new desktop processor models to the market, these include new SKUs in both Phenom II and Athlon II lines. Older SKUs may have been displaced from their price-points by some of the new models. To begin with, AMD introduced a new value dual-core model, the Athlon II X2 265 (3.30 GHz); triple-core Athlon II X3 450 (3.20 GHz); quad-core Athlon II X4 645 (3.10 GHz). The X2 265 is based on the 45 nm Regor die, it features 2 MB of L2 cache, rated TDP of 65W, and is priced at US $76. The X3 450 is based on the 45 nm Rana die, and is essentially a Propus die with one core disabled. It has TDP rated at 95W, this one goes for $87. The X4 645 makes use of the full Propus die, rated TDP at 95W, priced at $122.

Next up, AMD introduced a new "high-end" six-core model, probably in response to lowering of prices on some Intel Core i7 models such as the i7-860. The new Phenom II X6 1075T Black Edition is essentially the same as the Phenom II X6 1090T, except that it's clocked at 3.00 GHz (200 MHz lower). It is priced at $245. Next, a quad-core model that seems to be in response to Intel's release of the Core i5 760. The Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition is clocked at 3.50 GHz (highest AMD default clock speed till date), and is based on the older Deneb die instead of derivation from Thuban. So there's no Turbo Core feature, but thanks to its Black Edition marker, it has an upwards unlocked BClk multiplier. This SKU displaces the X4 965 BE, and is priced at $185. The speed-bump didn't affect the TDP, which is still at 125W.

Lastly, there's the the dual-core Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition. Aimed to compete with Intel Core i3 processors, this model is priced at just $105, but offers a clock speed of 3.30 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache per core, 6 MB L3 cache, and TDP rated at 80W. It's based on the Calisto die, which is Deneb with two cores disabled. So who knows, you might get lucky unlocking the disabled cores on any of the motherboards that even advertise supporting such a process.

You don't put specialized CPUs (unlocked multiplier) in OEM systems. 3.6GHz would've been better though, but at least it makes the 955 and 965 cheaper.

These all look pretty promising. I think that PII X2 560 will be a really nice fit in the HTPC I am planning.

Some nice chips.:)

Don't really see the point in that 1075T, might as well just get a 1055T for cheaper and clock it up a bit.

The 970 BE does sound like a good chip, could easily get that up to 4Ghz.

Awesome price.:rockout:

And i didn't know the 1075T was a Black Edition(didn't see it in article lol), so semi disregard what i said.

Because after the sale is over and it returns to it's normal price, the 1055T would still look like a winner, as it may not be as easy to overclocked with it, it still can, and it's possible to achieve a higher clock speed and a cheaper price overall.

I do think most who have the extra money on hand would go with the 1075T, the unlocked multi makes it worth it to many.

It appears that the 1075t is NOT a Black Edition processor. Just to clarify that. Source

Edit: upon closer examination, it appears that the 1075T comes in two flavors, Black Edition and not. Source

That's very interesting...

Wonder how much the BE is over the standard locked version.

IDK, I just find it weird that they both carry the same identifier. Kind of like the 550 that came as a BE and not. I think AMD should have a different part number for the BE than the non-BE. How pissed would you be to not be paying attention and accidentally grabbed the non-BE when you were aiming for the BE part. :shadedshu

No listing for Phenom2 730BE(triplecore 3.0ghz)?

I was actually wondering that myself especially since I'd really like to get my hands on one to put it thru it's paces at work to compare against the 720. Myself, I really think AMD was onto something when they offered the tri-core ones since it mirrors the same core count as the Xbox 360.

Now, if they can get the Fusion stuff going I'd be interested to see a tri-core with the same performance profile as an X2 720 with an integrated HD 5450 GPU. :rockout:

Hmm, 1075T not a bad cpu for the money. Much better value than the overpriced 1090T.
