2 4870x2s vs 2 GTX 460s? I don't think so man, considering a single 4870x2 is faster than a 5870, that kinda gpu power is comparable to, if not more powerful than, a 5970, whereas SLI 460s go toe-to-toe with a 480

I agree with dhdude on that one, my m8 has two GTX460's GLH in SLi and there not much faster then my single 4870X2 to be honest

Yea for a card of its age it realy packs a punch still, just shows you how good it was when it first came out.

What FPS do you get in Crysis with two 4870X2's?

I still use my 4870x2 because it does what I need it to do.
With the 6xxx series in the pipeline, I'll wait to see what they are like and watch the prices of the 5970s too.

I think you mean dx11, dx10 is supported by the 4870x2. And i say stick to it for now, its a great card.

4870 < 460, but he has 2 x 4870x2, and 4870x2 is quite a bit more powerful than the 460 (in effect, he has 4x 4870)

@OP unless you really need DX11 and/or wanna reduce power usage, stay with what you have, that's still a monster setup

Hel all, First post.

I have had SLI before but not crossfire. So now I have my 2nd x2 on its way to me, and was just wondering what do I need to install and how do the bridges work, as I notice there are two connectors on the card and a bridge with every card.

Is it worth it? That depends...

GTX480 will give better performance in some games, especially at higher resolutions. But not a huge increase.

If you sell both the 4870x2 you might get $400 if you are lucky (going by ebay prices). Then $500 for a GTX480, so you are looking at $100 minimum.

I wouldn't. It depends on the games you play really.

Just my opinion, but you might just want to hold off 'til the sales(I really like sales) of Black Friday, Christmas and after come about. Those cards are more than adequate, unless you need physX and\or DX11 at the moment.
Plus, don't forget the new cards that should appear soon(maybe).
I would have patience for a while. Chew some gum or something when you get the urge to buy.
