Hello TPU!
I decided I want to buy a little netbook for school, would make my life easier also :)
and i noticed most netbooks have the cpu either atom n270 or n450.
What is the difference between them and which one is more powerful?

Thanks, tokio ;)

n450 is faster, but the N270 is usually paried with an ION, depends on your usage

They are both about the same, with the N450 consuming a bit less power. Given the choice, if everything is equal, the N450 wins. Otherwise, probably the cheaper one.

it is basically a 9400m, but first off, what are you going to on this PC, light gaming or strictly office apps?

I bought myself a HP mini 311, it was cheap and will play most older games and COD4 quite well, there might be better ones out, but these ION based machines are really quite fast

COD4 isnt exactly the most demanding game out there, Pentium D dual core at 2.4GHz recommended (wiki) and a 128mb ram graphics card (which suggests low end).

I have netbook with a N270 and sometimes i find it rather slow maybe because i have an Intel graphics card - for example youtube videos over 480p are impossible to watch and sometimes some applications are running slow other than that its a descent netbook. Doing all my projects and stuff in Word/Excel for the University on it and im happy :)

Also, the n270 is 32 bit and n450 is 64 bit.
In case, you want to run a 64 bit OS.
Food for thought.:)

I have a MSI Wind with n270 and it does everything I need it to do, pretty quickly, too...
But, it is not for gaming, just Web, Office, and stuff.
