Because 100 is easier to deal with than 133, and now the same BCLK is generating clock speeds for things that are clocked lower than 133MHz, specifically the PCI-E clock which is standard 100MHz which the BCLK fits perfectly.

And really, unlike the old FSB days, the BCLK has no effect on performance. It is only used to generate other clock frequencies.

5GHz with .0981V on air sounds awesome. Pretty weird to see a multiplier as high as 50x though.

I still wonder what the perform will be like against the current i7's, i personally have no need for an integrated GPU on there so that's one aspect that i definitely have no interest in that is going to be a pretty big part in why someone would go with Sandy Bridge. If CPU performance and CPU intensive tasks don't perform very well, then i don't have much interest in moving to a completely different socket. This is great stuff for the mobile market though.

the voltage has to be wrong. 32nm is good but not that good. 50 multi is common on K chips. mine will go up to 60 if the cpu could actually handle it

the reason for the lower BCLK is simple: if they release a 100 BLCK series now, they can release a 133 series later and people will upgrade cause its 'faster'

Isn't possible that they just hand picked an amazing performing chip and rolled with that?

And that it doesn't doesn't signify what most normal retail chips will look like.

Remember guys with the high multi, only way to overclock these(unconfirmed -possibly fud) is via multiplier only. Although IIRC, same was said with P55 and X58 at just before time of release.

Well it's hard to say with sample chips, it's been the case before where retail ended up being even better. And if hand picked, I'd expect the worst of the batch to still clock better than today's chips.

I'm baking on motherboard manufacturers to come up with a way to lock down the other frequencies influenced by the BCLK like they did with FSB.
