I found this thread very useful when I first joined, thought a similar results thread might be useful for graphics cards.

Post your results using this format:

1125MHZ? holysh*t, but 1.35V is high as hell, how much can you get for 1.25V?

That's fine, under water. This is still 40nm process, many 5870 cards @ 950mhz shipped with 1.25v default(Gigabyte SOC and PowerColour PCS).

Impressive that you guys were able to get strait into the 1 GHz club. I'm still inching mine up from 915 because BC2 seems to be very picky about overclocked cards.

Overall though very pleased with the cooling performance of the stock Sapphire 6850 heatsink. It's 10C cooler overclocked than my old 5770 was with default voltage and clockspeed.

what speed do you CFX them @? ~1000/1100 I'd assume for stability.

I was very impressed how far Charly's 6850 went, i don't own BC2 so it could be possible it would be unhappy with my clocks, i have only used ATI tool and 3dmark06 to test them so far.

They don't want to play nice, 1100 memory seams slightly unstable after doing some more longer stressing, although i don't know why as they both seam stable above 1100 when ran alone.
I think it may have to be turned down to 1090mhz and the cores i had been running at 975mhz while at stock volts, if i can get to giving them a little more voltage (problems with oc'ing tools) i would hope they will be happy with 1ghz preferably around 1.25v but only time will tell :D

*edit*
I will get some pictures of my results soon but i have been up all night then all day playing with my cards and cpu and now both cards are back in i don't really feel like taking them out, i guess i may be willing ( more like able to before i pass out ) to see if i can get some extra voltage going on both cards i could post a crossfire score.

Well I did something pretty dumb. Didn't realize that I had the wrong 3D profile set in Afterburner @ 1050/1150 that was causing my problems in 3D mode. Durrr...

With that sorted out 1 GHz core is now completely stable in games and benchmarks. Also got this custom fan profile thing figured out which lowered temps a bit.

heaven 1851 score

I assume my cpu (the ram speed may possibly be another factor i don't know) is holding the cards back as from what i have read an i7 would be much better to feed them, hopefully sandy bridge will be even better :D

I hate you Charly  your 3dmark06 score stomps all over mine, dam you for making me jealous of your cpu for one :p

Here are my 6850 results with my E8400 @ 3910 MHz (8.5*460):

HTC | Sapphire | 6850 | 975 MHz | 1150 MHz | 1.225 | 77 C | stock

I only overclocked for this: usually, i use my PC @ 2025 MHz (9*225) with the GPU @ stock.

don't you find the CPU a bit slow @ 2ghz? I think a lot of games would benefit from running at least 3-ish.

That's why i have underclocking and overclocking profiles in BIOS.

EDIT

If i find a guide showing me how to safely underclock my GPU (no BSODs or crashes), i'd do the same for the GPU.

Find the minimum the card will run at via a windows overclocking tool, and then make a profile that matches it.

I've downclocked a few ati cards 4890.4850 and 5770.

the 5770 had any barely temperature difference when under-clocked though : [

I agree, i did the same for my 4870 in the summer and had it down to 1.0v 300mhz core and 400mhz/1.6ghz effective for the memory, it dropped the heat output/power usage so much.

It's basically the same as overclocking, set a speed and voltage then stress and keep dropping until it becomes unstable.

It's kind of pointless now i have 6870's though as they drop lower than i could get my 4870 without crashing anyway.

It's not the temps that count: it's the power usage.

How do i test this for 2D clocks?

Not what i meant: is it possible to underclock 2D clocks? How do i test to check if 2D clocks work properly or not?
