I saw a picture of the Zalman VF3000a on a 6870 and it didn't look bad but it hung off of the back of the card quite a bit. The heatsink on this model looks like it's more in the center of the cooler. It looks great on that 5850 as if it was made for it. I want one of these for my 6870. Hopefully it comes out looking half as good as yours. You sold me.

Crap, doesn't look like this model would fit a reference card it looks a lot better than the vf3000a too.

115c = dead temp
90c to 100c= high temp
80c to 90c= it's normal
70c to 80c= cool
under 70c = freezing

Damn I better break out the ice pick then. My card does not go over 41C under full load with furmark. Then again I am not air cooled! Everything is under water except RAM.

The ice pick duh! :rolleyes:

Well my point is this thread is about air cooling. Anyone with water cooling will have very low temps on any chip. Your point here is really not a revelation and not on topic. Water cooling on a gtx 480 will give you similar temps but thats not the point here. I was asking about stock cooled 5850 temps. I'm not trying to be mean here but if you had read the thread all the way through you would have known that. Oh and Duh!!! :laugh:

Just having fun which is what I usually do. Sometimes I may not contribute technically but I do in other ways to help give people a giggle when they need it. :toast:
