I still don't understand why SSD's are so exspensive, they have less parts.

I don't get why diamonds are more expensive than ssds. They have way less parts.

but in this case almost everything about the SSD is cheaper. chips vrs magnetic platter, motor, what motors, less assembly time. pick and place machines vrs layers of assembly.More then likely far fewer defects and definately the potential for less warranty claims due to rough handling.

In fact SSD's being pricey really makes no sense at all. They should be cheaper then a traditional magnetic drive. If anything is driving up prices on these its the chip makers or the companies liscensing the IP for the parts in them. Everything about a SSD is in thoery, cheaper to produce.

diamonds are exspensive becuase it takes a tremndous amount of time and resources to gather them or produce them.

SSD's. not so much.

the price of almost every mass produced product is tied to materials and labor.both should be LESS on a SSd not more.

My point was simply that it's much more complicated than the number of parts as you first implied. And that's not quite accurate. Diamonds are very easy to make now, about $5 a pop. Flash memory on the other hand does involve quite a bit of effort to make, despite high volume sales it's still not cheap.

Was that before or after the fab dev costs were recovered ? at this point it should be image and etch.

I would love to see just one 128 GB for $128 or 64GB for $64 but I have yet to see any there. Has anyone ever seen one? Or is this just a promotional gig to draw interest??? I hate BS advertising scams.
