Then look at the specs for a 6970, 1536 SP's the same as in the GPU-Z screen, do the math, it's a 6970, FFS the guy has the retail box and card with matching serial numbers.

Here this is how AMD have done the ID's on other cards.

5850 - 6899, 5870 - 6898
6850 - 6739, 6870 - 6738

The higher part has lower ID.

I assumed the combined test was the one where the CPU for hard structures and direct compute for soft items thus my confusion still stands

I think i have not worded myself well, i understand more ram, means more latency but i was curious if using 4gb at t1 and 8gb at t2 would make the difference bigger.

I just remember reading somewhere that the difference between t1 and t2 would only be noticeable in benchmarks

Really there is one very important thing to remember about all my posts over the next month.... i will probably be drunk or hung over thus stupid and ignorant  please forgive my stupidity :p

either that or i should be quiet until the year is over

You're a bear, it's winter time, I understand. :)

To be honest the 6970 could still be acceptable to me depending on the price as all i really ask is better min fps compared to 6870 crossfire but also as crossfire scales better on i7's than phenoms is probably around the fps of 6870 crossfire on a phenom setup with a little less heat as a pair of 6870's with my cpu pushed as far as possible just to try and get the most out of them was cooking me alive.

Really until launch day when we can read multiple reviews from multiple sites and know the actual retail prices no one can truly say how good or bad the 69xx cards are, but so far the leaks don't seam very impressive so i think price and power usage will play a big part in how much i damn Nvidia for not supporting 3 monitors on a single 580

 true, it's my time for drunken hibernation

wtf is a slow speed board?

This can mean that it have cutted SP, like should be 1920SP and have ~1600 instead. So lets hope thats true

I must admit this is probably the most confusing product launch of the past few years

I really can't wait to see official numbers from multiple sites as until then i will be very confused.

Early drivers. Would pretty much be on par vs a GTX580 when everything settles down

I thought most everyone has 6950, and it is 1600SP, while 6970 is actually kinda rare, and is 1920SP?

Hence the realier mention of people having cards that are partially "disabled".

With a few days left, I can't bother to speculate further.

With so many rumors floating around, no wonder it's hard to tell ...

In any case, hasn't AMD ... ATI ... been known for shipping samples for reviewers without the proper shader count or other specific part not to specs? I seem to recall W1zzard pointing out in @ least 1 of his many reviews that a card was supposed to have less shaders (IIRC) then it actually had but that he managed to test it with the correct number thanks to disabling the "extra ones": could it be that the inverse is happening now?

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Or this could be a big pull your leg, giving out crippled drivers until right before launch day.

How could twice the transistors, a fix of the triangles per clock, more complex shaders, fail this hard?

I too will wait for the actual release date. Plus AMD is probably saving the twin core to kill the 580.

This clears any doubts on that particular detail: thanks, dude!

Could be fake...:wtf: LOL...hasn't any of the past slides that each and every one ahs been faked i nsome way...not make you just distrust random pictures of NDA documents?

How could twice the transistors, a fix of the triangles per clock, more complex shaders, fail this hard?

FYI, to really set that bit of info apart from the rest, Cypress is 2154M transistors, and that pic above shows 2640M. That's an increase of 486M transistors over teh past gen, or about 13%.

So, we know that not all of these are centered around shaders..some go into the dual set-up engine...

I am not sure who has set expectations so high, but they seem mispalced.

I am not sure, drugs are decriminalized in Portugal, right, so maybe you's just tripping?

Really? The only drugs i buy are those from the pharmacy, when i'm sick and such, but that's me.

LOLZ...that's what I heard last night...I actually kinda questioned it(decriminalization), so hence my post.

I'm just itching to find out. I'm glad to see 2GB, as I had suspected, but you know, I saw MSI GTX480 Lightening for $439, and almost bought it.

So, it's to just performance, but also cost, that has me waiting. GTX580 sounds really good at the moment, but I am loath to kick AMD to the curb just yet...I really don't want to have to run two cards for tri-monitor gaming.
