I have seen this problem before on a Nforce 4 board with my friend and you just change the PCI latency and it fixes the problem(IF fixed his at least)....

i wont buy creative cards anymore, to many driver and hardware issues with them, cmedia is FAR more responcive, they even make updated drivers for OLD cards like the 8738 for windows 2k/xp/2k3/x64/vista, creative dumped live 5.1 support back in 2003!!!!! audigy/x-fi have their own issues, i prefer eather onboard or cmedia based audio cards!!!!

i have one complaint about ADI hd audio codec support and that is that asus is way to slow to update drivers, takes them to long to post updated drivers, they need to use cmedia so people can just go to cmedia forums and download them/report problems/exct.

if ur gonna buy an addin card go with AuzenTech audio cards, the mystic is like 53bucks at newegg and kicks x-fi arse :)

Hmm only problem I have had with any of my audigy's was the current one I have, but that was because my stupid A** didn't place it properly in the pci slot, and it was a little loose, on hard bass hits it would crackle a bit, took it out and slid it back in problem solved.

But I will say that with "Creative" branded cards, I would say its a Love/Hate relationship. But I don't believe I will ever own anything different. But then again I far from use my computer for audiophile sound. I have a lot of Nakamichi, and working on a McIntosh stuff for that.

Anyone ever heard of latency? If you get pops and cracks, you have too tight sound card latencies, and so what you need is to stretch it a bit. Usually your sound card drivers permit you to adjust the latency. I don't knwo why would you want to blame Creative for making very tight latency sound cards and possibly have compatibility issues with some hardware.

X-FI is a very good sound card model with extremely tight latencies. Something Creative had a hard time to provide before, but now is here. Being dumb and protest and petition about a product is not a solution. All you need to do is report the problem according to the driver version you used back to Creative, and they will fix their drivers accordingly. Or, just send back that soundcard to the store and STFU.

Wow!!!. I have serious popping/crackling noises in my speakers but with my audigy 2 card. I have the memory in dual channel and reading the first post of the administrator about the latency I remembered my old installed program. Yeah, I resolved my popping/crackling noises in MUCH only reinstalling the PCI Latency Tool program(not valid for PCI express systems). Changing in the program the soundcard latency and the rest of cards to 0(except for the VGA, in the VGA the recommended setting is 64/32)and applied the option in the program "Apply, Save, And Apply on startup". I you want download the tool are located here:

http://www.esi-pro.co.kr/spboard/board.cgi?id=FAQ&action=view&gul=36&page=1&go_cnt=0

See, solutions...

EDIT: That link doesn't work, but it's basically a question of latency. THAT IS ALL.

33 you dont get it, the cards been out what 2 years now? and they still havent fixed alot of the issues with it, the first cards wouldnt work with most boards or if you had certen other cards in your system......just bad design and testing, then horrid support!!!!

they promised sb live and audigy windows x64 drivers with full control software, never happened from what i have seen.

creative has been doing this since the sb live came out, they could have software patched the live cards to stop crackling back then but wouldnt because it would cause 3-5% more cpu use on via chipset systems!!!
blah, till you deal with creative support urself.....request a fix for a problem, die waiting.....rofl.

Check this out: I have an SBLIVE 24bit 7.1 Advanced HD. The chip is not the EMU10K, and that the latency tolerance of this card is roughly around 60 - 70 ms. It sux, basically. I can not use the KX Project drivers because I don't have the EMU10K. Should I write a petition to Creative? NO! Because if I have read some reviews and specs on that card, I would have known then that the card is not an authentic SBLIVE with EMU10K but a flacky SBLIVe with a not so common sound chip. It is my responsibility. The card works fine, everywhere, and the 24bit works fine, etc etc. It sounds great! Yet I can not do real time music with it ala MIDI and so forth. But it is my responsibility as a buyer to study the product properly.

The XFI in my own beliefs isn't a spoof card, nor is the Audigy series. Creative brought tons of soundcard models to the market and they mostly all work. They are very good at makign soundcards and they beat most of everyone in it.

If you want to get stolen, go buy a Physics card for 249$ with no games that use it.

Ketxxx you should do to others and others do to you.
Dont lose your temper for such a stupid reason.

Yes creative has had problems with their drivers, however, they do offer some nice products.
Its this simple, you dont like them then just dont buy it.

There was no reason to start this thread and rant on.
All of us have had hardware break on us before and dont like a company, but we dont start flame wars due to this.

So please act accordingly.

Then why not go see Creative themselves if you believe they suck so much, why not go threaten their engineers? See my point? Or may I make it clearer? maybe shut down their website and get the personal addresses of the managers?

I think this thread is flamebait.

only to fanboi's, and i would happly go slap around some creative techs and managers and even execs if it would get them to stop doing apiss poor job supporting their cards.

read the cmedia forums, they acctualy respond fast and try and fix problems with the users!!!!
creative if they ever bother to respond then say they are looking into the possable issue and never take resoncibility themselves.

cmedia for example has taken responcibility for some driver issues and worked hard to fix them!!!!(read their forums)

Software XP Home SP2, can't wait for Vista SP1.
I run Creative cards in both my computers. Darth Flatulence has some ancient thing that shipped with it over 6 years ago, which both Windows ME and XP auto-installed drivers for without a hitch. Aegis has a SoundBlaster Live! 24 bit, which never EVER gave me problems in Windows XP. When I booted into Windows Vista, it used to give me extreme lag because the drivers were not made right, but a quick update to Vista-ready drivers (and a few reinstalls/a move to RC1) fixed the issue. Basically, Creative makes great cards, and not so great drivers :).

only to fanboi's, and i would happly go slap around some creative techs and managers and even execs if it would get them to stop doing apiss poor job supporting their cards.

read the cmedia forums, they acctualy respond fast and try and fix problems with the users!!!!
creative if they ever bother to respond then say they are looking into the possable issue and never take resoncibility themselves.

cmedia for example has taken responcibility for some driver issues and worked hard to fix them!!!!(read their forums)

I have read the messages, and I even have copy/pasted one reply from there to this board ;)

Actually, is it possible that you are lacking responsibility?
