Which PSU for GTX 580 SLI?

I want to know which out of this 2 PSU's would be the best to power 4ghz i7 and 2 gtx 580's OC'd?

So that 850w is really a 1k watt?

pretty much im running 2x 6970s and a Phenom II off one with 4 HDDs 2 ODDs 4 case fans 2x Delta CPU heatsink fans CCFL lighting etc overclocked no big deal unit dosent break a sweat

build quality is also slightly higher then the Corsair HX1000 granted the 1000 can push a bit further but overall 850 is good for where it sits price wise

okay corsair PSUs arent the only good ones out there. Enermax makes some, Antec True power new Series and new HCP series, Seasonic X series, Silverstone, etc

Seasonic? Seasonic made the HX750 and 850, IIRC.

Did you increase the volts on your 6970? Was it still running? Because I overvolt my 580

im running with my TDP increased by 20% meaning max tdp of the card is 200w usually and with the 20% it hits around 240w per card even so your looking at maybe 250 for the i7 cpu overclocked 250 per gpu maybe 270w MAX and thats insane loads like furmark in reality your only gonna hit in games or bench runs around 220w cpu 200w per gpu or 600w roughly on the 12v rail

650w roughly for W1zzards test rig of 580 sli + i7 overclocked so even with you pushing the enevelope you wont exceed 700w any of the units above can handle that

the only antecs i like are the Signature series and the corsair units are on par with them and cheaper but depends on brands you like

if you want a 1000w unit get one but you can get by with a high quality 850w

I have an Enermax 1020 on RMA due to the fan dying. The psu ran just fine, but I did RMA it for warranty needs. Now I am rocking a Corsair AX1200 and have been very happy

and yes seasonic and CWT make corsair psu the difference is seasonic makes the units to corsairs specs and its generaly accepted that besides the 1000hx the corsair units tend to be of slightly better quality but overall there equal then again seasonic also commands a higher price for there units in general. so again comes down to preference ill take a Corsair unit for the 7 year warranty and easy RMA process.

Im a big SilverStone fan,but that OP 1000 is not there best work by far..I agree with the Corsair remarks here,my next build will be with a Corsair PSU..

signatures are good units but sadly in general there more expensive then a corsair on there equal so same performance reliability but higher cost

take your pick in the corsair 850hx review Johnny guru praises and mentions the SG 850 but its only on par so $90 more for nothing isnt a good a buy

and yet corsair units outsell every other brand nearly 2 to 1 on newegg and have a 7 year warranty thats extremely and have an extremely easy RMA process lol $90 more for soldering yea no thanks ill take the 7 year warranty and slightly less pretty soldering job

not to mention the corsair unit still supplies more power reliably where it needs it the 12v rail

antec is multi rail which is great but traps power to each section which is kinda worthless and combined only offers 65amps max according to spec Corsair unit sits at a nice round 70amps

thats 780w max 12v for the antec 840 for the corsair not a huge difference but ill take single rail that is in my honest opinion a more stable platform that can give a greater amount of power reliably then multi rail not to mention. that $90 could go to something like Beer and pizza along with a PPV of the next fight so good times all around on the house

still comes down to what the OP will prefer in low power rigs i prefer Antecs units like the Basiq as it just does what i need it to and is reliable for mid range aka 550w-950w ill take a corsair anything higher then that ill shop around and read a ridiculous # of reviews and in that case right now it would be an Antec Signature or a Corsair Proffessional Series for anything in the 1000+ range

but more importantly if a Corsair psu frys your system Corsair will usually pony up and replace the parts which is something ive never heard of Antec doing.

well on your budget of $200 there is a good selection out there.

I have a Zalman ZM850 850W and it's enough for any 2 GPU's.

If you plan on having 4 in SLI or CrossfireX probably nothing less than a 1000W.

Also depends on the Wiring /Connector setup ... find the one that's most practical
and not a piece of junk. Make sure it has good cooling ability.

There is a guy that is recommending Corsair and he swears on it reliability /quality.

But looks as though you decided on 2 models /types. Choice is ultimately yours.

Haha I ran 2x4850x2s (the highest watt video cards to date) on a thermaltake tr2 that was with 14 120mm yate loon high speeds and a phenom x6 1090t@4.4 a corsair 850 is overkill for your setup a 750 would handle nicely

I've had my Corsair HX850 for well over a year now and it's been flawless. Runs really cool, too. It's been running now for over 48 hours straight and is barely warm to the touch.

It's had superb reviews and totally lives up to them.

Therefore, I recommend my PSU, because of my superb experience with it.
