well, really ? is clock speed everything ? I mean sure 5ghz is impressive, but what does it really do for you past a certain point.I love how he says 8 threads in total, shit winxp on a p3 can be running with 400 threads easily. Ht is a gimmick. This needs to be fact checked either way.

It is when you have a efficient architecture.

8 Threads with HT yes, and a better utilization that multiple cored would get alone, while a fetch from memory is occurring the hundreds of cycles that are wasted currently on AMD setups can be used for beneficial work.

Threads that can execute at once are much different than the total number of programs and how many threads they have. No one currently has a "400 thread" processor, and even if they the the overhead for scheduling what thread to which processor, and memory pool would be a performance killing problem on its own.

Fact checked.

your forgetting pipeline flushing, lock and resource contention.which HT can actually cuase more of.

but HT is a gimmick, those cycles aren't wasted on AMD's cpu's, they are busy working,

do you understand lock, and unlocking of threads and data.

BTW HT is only beneficial when a poorly written algorythm short uses the pipeline.

talk to software authors about that. its there shitty software clogging the pipeline. basically it means they aren't getting enough done per thread

If it were crap then any software would not benefit from it. But they do. Now stop trolling.
