Wow the delay wasn't that long:eek: ... (for those who didn't know the hotfix was released a day late)

Edit/Update Section
Q: When will 11.1 Come out?

oh ..any one last thing ..please stop bitching about the hot fix release, it's just a hotfix. You don't have to download it. AMD keep's their customers up-to-date in terms of trying to keep their driver's legit. This is better than leaving us screwed with just WHQL releases that always takes a month to complete. I rather have updates every so often.

Update Part II 1-19-10
As confirmed by "theoneandonlymrk" -this is working on his 5870

I can now confirm that it's working on my 5850 Crossfire (XFX XXX BE + PowerColor) ...So everybody use at your own despair. I read somewhere here that somebody else tried it on their 5850 and it gave them a lot of problems. Here are my pic's:

Games: Dead Space - NFSHP - Black Ops

they really need to stop w/ these hotfixes. it makes them look like they're doing things half-assed and sloppy. Just release a solid, stable driver, if that means u can't release that month then DONT. they're taking a serious hit to their credibility given the last 4-5 catalyst releases had hot fixes (cats 10.10 had like 3-4 of them no???)

i dont understand that logic.

nvidia releases just as many betas, and for most people the official ATI drivers are quite stable.

I completely & utterly disagree with you in regards to them looking half-assed and sloppy. I actually like the fact that I get a driver every month and that hotfixes are released. I'm gagging to get the new Cats. I WANTS MOAR!

I second this .Just with the 69XX cards the support is not there and it makes sense fro the 11.11a to come first.

anyone care to confirm;

Unigine Heaven OpenGL performance improves ~10% at moderate, 30% at normal and 100% at extreme tessellation levels

that would make things a lot more interesting.

They might have improved the 69x0 VLIW4 vs VLIW5 shader compiler optimizations :D
And we will know whether the unlocked 6950's are locked out

Makes me wonder if Cat 11.1 WHQL will be the reason to switch from 10.10e. MLAA works by far the best with these. Later versions are plagued with issues and that kinda kills the whole purpose of MLAA because it simply doesn't work in all games anymore or it causes horrific image tearing (BioShock 2) even with V-Sync enabled.

Ok first question What WHQL means? Second one: Where is the 11.1 because on the website for my integrated HD radon 4200 its still 10.12.

Thx :)

WHQL = Windows Hardware Quality Labs. Think of it as a kind of bagde that gets stamped on a driver software. See also here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHQL_Testing

11.1 is announced for 26.01.2011.
11.1a (supposedly the same as 11.1 but without WHQL as this takes paperwork-time) is announced for today but isn't out yet.

Indeed...That will be the true test if those unlocks will have any problems with future driver releases. If they made major improvements in performance do to VLIW4 I can't see why they wouldn't release the drivers to the press for the "new and improved review" of the 6900 series.

In certain ways I understand your point.
AMD / ATI is like Microsoft Windows ..forever a patch/ fix anytime when they get to it.. How many before MS manages to put all into a SP 1 , SP2 and SP3.

Well between MS and AMD .. several other companies seem to apply the same Concept.

Look at Blizzard ..World of Warcraft ..like every week they're performing a patch/ fix with their regular Tuesday Maintenance routine.

It's true ..not good for reputation or business ..but we keep buying their Lame Products as we are the Guinea Pigs or Testers until the Fixes are in place.. by that time .. they want us to buy the next Product ... which many will ..then we all will Complain again.

What it comes down to. Stop buying the product / merchandice and they will either wither away and die or Start producing better products that are Quality based and solid performers without Dragging us consumers into the Fix Me Up routine.

Well this sucks I have 2 5770's so this is not going to give me any improvement at all ? WTH ?? I will just have to stick with my 10.10e drivers then ! :banghead:
It sure would be nice for them to make a driver that has improvements for all there cards not just a chosen few ! This is what I find messed up about AMD/ATI drivers ! Not only do they put out HOT fix after HOT fix and driver after driver but most of them are designed for just 2 or 3 cards and that is messed up !
Looks like my next build is going to be based on nVidia SLI and NOT crossfire !

I bet they will come out with 10.12e drivers that will be newer than the 11.1a drivers LOL !

I disagree with the WoW statement. Every time a new expansion is released, they spend lots of time to fix the bugs, errors, etc. That doesnt make them lame, that makes them responsible for their product and trying to make it the best there is. When WOTLK came out the had to do many patches, but after a cpl months the client was stable. Same applies to AMD. They release a driver, find an error, then release a hotfix for it. Its not like these hotfixes affect every single card in the driver package, its just that some need tweaking after they are first released, so as to ensure compatibility with games, OSes, apps, etc
