DICE said BC2 was not going to be a console port...

I take anything they say with a grain of salt. If BF3 has 64 players, better CQ maps, prone (with actual standing recoil), working VoIP, dev console, command rose, battle recorder...awesome! But I have a hard time believing that's going to happen since EA is clearly trying cut into the CoD franchise rather than getting back to the basics and publishing great PC games.

One thing I don't want to see with BF3 is a return of ridiculously overpowered vehicles. It was so annoying in BF2 when people would do nothing but camp jets and helos to cruise around racking up cheap kills. On the other hand, the helos in BC2 suck and are way too flimsy. They need to find the right balance where air vehicles can actually take out armor but are not too powerful against infantry. Making them fun to fly with actual joystick support would also be a huge bonus.

well the Medal of Honor Limited Edition didn't cost anymore than Standard Edition. it was the only sure way to get into the Battlefield 3 beta.

March 1st is GDC (Game Developers Conference) Electronic Arts plans to unveil Battlefield 3.

Just tried BFBC2 for first time in ages, took an age to update and it (vietnam maps installing i guess) and can't join any server.

Shitty console favouring nonsense.

I have the limited, and haven't got one. I don't think the invites are sent until the beta is opened.

I'm confident Steam will have the beta (same as BC2) and they'll get it sorted out. I was just wondering if I was the only one.

Renderer is completely overhauled, only the DX11 api is used and it will only have a fallback to DX10. Legacy stuff is gone and for good reason.

I asked the dev behind it over twitter and he confirmed that the DX11 path will be faster, especially when MSAA is used and that the DX11 path is open to many more optimizations. The lighting method they use (compute shader) is apparently the fastest way on modern hardware. Seeing as DX10 has a gimped compute shader it makes sense that the DX11 path could be faster. It doesn't exist at all on DX9 hardware so, it's gone.

i think any gamer who plays games on the pc and is interested in BF3 probably has atleast a dx 10 card so i dont see a problem there and people who whine like little piglets that there is no XP support needs to Shut the Hell Up and go buy windows 7

somewhat interestingly, gameinformer has the multiplayer listed as 64 for pc, 24 for console.

DICE already confirmed that PC version will have 64 players, it also said in their official battlefield blog(blog.battlefield.ea.com) DICE will put "special effort" on the PC
