First, My spec are:
Core 2 Duo E6700
Gigabyte 965P-DS3
XFX Geforce 7300 GS 256 mb
1 Gb DDR2 Ram 800 mhz( changed to 800 from 533)
WD Caviar 250 gb

I'm a hardcore gamer, but on a budget restrictions. I currently have 7300 GS 256 mb, which does not supply enough horsepower for me. I don't want to spend much money on DX9 card, so I would have enough saved for a DX10 card. The cards i'm gonna buy for now are:
Saphire X1600 XT 256 mb OR nVidia Geforce 7600GS OR 7800GS.
I need atleast 256 mb but 512 will go too.But the problem is it has to be priced near a XFX GForce 7300 GS.
Any suggestions anyone?
My budget is around 70 $ to 140 $.

X850xt would do you alot of good for you're budget. Much better than a 7300gt. As long as you don't just play splinter cell, not having shader model 3.0 wouldn't hurt.

The X1600 series cards are the bigest waste of money there is. An X850 will kick it all over the room and overclocks like a madman.

@bhaskar15 your bottleneck is probably both the gpu and the 1GB ram, upgrade to 2gb when you can.

Perhaps a set of faster RAM would help too... 533 is kinda slow.

go with the x850. thg shows that the x850 completely wipes the floor with the x1600xt and the 7600gt.

Ram is not my concern, only gpu is.With Core 2 Duo E6700 clocked at 3.7 ghz ! gives me enough power. But Graphics is another thing. Please tell me 1 thing, If i have 256 mb card and get 60 fps in NFS underground (with all details On) @ 1280*1024 resolution, will a 512 mb card
raise the fps to higher. OR a neewer card will give more fps even of the same memory.

oh yeah, forgot to tell, the card has to be Vista ready too. ^_^
Actually I'm running Vista Ultimate Now....So no compromising in performance, and I can check its performance rating too. I changed to 800 mhz 1 gb ram.

A 512Mb card will run better with higher resolution only, If you plan on using 1280x1024 then a 256MB card will be fine! ;)

Which one is better X1900GT for $129 or X1600XT, also which factor in a gpu increases or affects Frame rate? I got 30 fps in NFS underground with all setting to high, at 1024 resolution with XFX 7300GS 256mb oc'd.
So will getting which one of the above increase the fps ? I will soon upgrade my monitor to 19" lcd, so high resolution gaming would be my concern with this gpu. sry, but this is my first gpu upgrade. :)

X1900GT will kick ass any X1600/X1650/GF7600:D
And you will get the sexy HDR with AA for using an ATi card in NFS. (I play NFS Carbon with X1950Pro and its sexy)

That card will give you huge fps in 1024x768, Its not far behind my X1950pro, slower clocks but same amount of pipes, shaders etc just doesn't have sm3! Will clock nicely aswel! ;)
