Good guide here: AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE unlocking guide

Quoted from the post there:

But certain things to worry about :-

Only certain 720BEs's can actually run this enabled 4th core.

The 4th core might get enabled on many motherboards but only some of them carries the ability to actually enable/use it and run the system as normal. Either on some motherboards it may get unlocked but the system wont boot (no display or might hang on bios screen). On some it may unlock and boot normally to windows & further but the system cannot be OCed.

Only some handful of motherboards are able to unlock the 4th core and run it at stable stock speeds or at stable OCed speeds.

You may be one of the un-lucky ones that cannot un-lock the fourth core.

why???!!!!

It is really normal. If you had to unlock it (like million other people have done till now) you would have not asked us.
Also, i don't need to have proofs, to prove why you cannot unlock it. I have never unlocked in my life.

You're taking a chance when unlocking a processor. Every chip is different, and the 4th core could be faulty. Just because everyone else unlocks their proccessor okay doesn't mean that it is guaranteed to work for you.

so you are unhappy you purchased a tri core that isn't a quad core and its the motherboards fault?

core is probably botched hence why it was sold as a tricore you can try up to 1.5v to get that chip stable but off of my experience it is not going to be. next purchase a quad core if you want a quad core not a tri expecting things for free.
