I'm attempting to build a PC with a budget of around 600 dollars. The only piece I have right now is the case, an Antec 900. I would appreciate any help that you could give me.

This is what I was thinking

GPU - HD 5770
CPU - AMD Phenon II X4 Black Edition
DVD Drive - Lite On DVD Drive

I'm not sure what size power supply is best suited for this build. Also not sure what mobo, HDD, or Ram I should be getting.

What city do you live in? I'm asking because you may live near a Store that is offering better deals than you can get online which could mean a better system for your Budget

Here's my $.02
Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, L...

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for...

Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, L...

LG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-R...

That puts you at $621 shipped #606 after MIR but includes your OS as well and you would also get a FREE copy of Stalker, a 2gb USB drive and a 8gb USB drive

Well that motherboard is a bit too expensive if you look at the budget. He won't be needing the 890FX chipset for only 1 HD5770 ;) PS: You know of the ASRock 870 Extreme 3? That's the one you want to go with.

Why is it to expensive he gave a budget and the rig I built fits it. Its a good mobo and the 870 isn't that much cheaper

It would but its not much less expensive than my post and its a lower end mobo that cost more; weaker cpu, slower ram that cost more but does include a bigger hdd which amir still fits into my bult just fyi. Choice is yours.
You would choose a 6 core over the 4?

Also I wouldn't have a problem with the smaller mobo in your post?

the one in my post is still a full ATX motherboard same as the GB 890GX you posted they will both fit in that case just fine as will any M-ATX boards you find.

i would chose a 6 core over the 4. starting off it has 2 extra cores and on top of that they are known to clock better on air and water than the 4 cores do. they also have a stronger memory controller on them.

If that's true, I haven't said a thing ;) The ASRock board is known to be the big performer for the least amount of bucks here in Holland, guess not everywhere.

Thank you to everyone who posted.

I went with the build above because it looked like the best bang for the buck. How important in thermal paste? I forgot to add it on to my order.

That's a good choice video card is a huge upgrade from mine. Paste comes on the cooler so you should be fine.

Just put together the computer, and am waiting for my W7 disc in the mail. Does anyone know how I can tell how much power watts are being used in total? Most things don't have a power reading on the box.

If the system ran full tilt no overclocks, would be close to around 250W.
