Still not fixed yet , i was going to get that board but decided on the ASUS P8P67 becuase it has extra sata ports that can be used

Well the issue with the chipsets were that after 2-3 years the sata ports could start to degrade leading in a 5-15% reduction in sata performance. This is not a given and will only happen on a percentage of the boards with the said chipsets. If you are the type who normally keeps a motherboard for between 1-2 years (like most on TPU tbh) then I wouldn't worry.

Otherwise grab one with the fixed chipset. :toast:

Thanks mate that clears things up, yes you're right I'd prolly have swapped platforms by the time I notice any degradation.

On another note, would the board I mention be able to handle a 4ghz overclock? I'll be googling this but would be nice to get a straight answer, cheers.

THe issue only affects SATA ports above ports 0 and 1, SATA III is not affected... And if the board fails they will replace it with a new one once they have been released according to PCCasegear
