You'd be a fool to buy such things (songs, inventions etc) if they weren't first trademarked, copyrighted or patented.

I think a no is the answer.

i.e. You buy an idea from someone, that idea must exist physically as you have seen it and bought it. You then try and trademark it and sell it on, first guy comes back and proves it was his idea and sues you.....

Legal minefield.....

To answer your question, it is legal to sell ideas / songs / your own manuscripts etc.

It might not be within eBay's ToC, but its not illegal.

The burden of ensuring you aren't getting cheated would be on you, though.

Yeah, fun time. It technically is legal. You can sell anything that can be legal defined as goods or a service exchange for money on the Internet. It is all a matter of finding someone brave enough to buy it from you.

P.S. The copyright to anything can be bought and sold. Hell the legal ownership of every Beatles song was famous bought by Michael Jackson in a public auction pissing off his close person friend John McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy has control of them now I think.
