Was just reading iPad2 and iPhone5 information... at least the iPad2 has been announced to have the "dual-core A5" processor, the iPhone5 is speculation.

Couldn't find through Google... who makes/supplies the "dual-core A5" chip?

I believe Samsung makes the chip, as they made the A4 processor for Apple.

You got it... searched "samsung a5" and got results... They also made the A4 chip (logically, LOL)

ARM seems to be the maker of the A5 chip. Where did you guys get Samsung?

ARM is intel, and they dont make chips they design them and licence out the designs to other companys

.... ARM is an architecture, like x86 or PowerPC. Different companies manufacture processors using the same architecture. That's how you end up with AMD and Intel both making i386 (x86) based chips.

Samsung is just the FAB for the A4/A5.

How convoluted is that... I heard a while back that samsung also provides flash memory for the iPhone and iPad... and possibly screens. Samsung will have a pretty tight hold on the OLED screen market when facilities can start producing enough to meet demand.

"The Apple A5 is a package on package (PoP) system-on-a-chip (SoC) designed by Apple and manufactured by Samsung to replace the Apple A4. The chip commercially debuted with the release of Apple's iPad 2 tablet; and will likely be followed by the iPhone 5 smartphone, the 5th generation iPod Touch and the 3rd generation Apple TV.
The A5 contains a 1 GHz dual-core ARM CPU and a GPU. Apple states that the CPU is twice as powerful as the predecessor and the GPU is up to nine times as powerful.
The A5 is assumed to be similar to the Samsung Exynos (code named Orion) processor as the A4 was to Samsung's Hummingbird."

I'm pretty sure ARM is its own company Advanced RISC Machines Ltd. The architecure is RISC

It was originally created by Acorn Computers and named "Acorn RISC Machine", but when Acorn became increasingly irrelevant in the industry it was changed to "Advanced RISC Machine" and the part of the company responsible for it was spun off and named "Advanced RISC Machines Ltd". When Acorn finally went out of business, the company name was changed to "ARM Holdings Ltd" under which it operates to this day. ARM Holdings no longer manufacture chips, they simply license their designs to other companies like Apple who manufacture them themselves or subcontract somebody else to do it for them.

Put simply, ARM is the architecture and Apple is the manufacturer/owner of the A4 and A5 chip design.

RISC is the instruction set - which multiple processors use RISC, such as ARM - SPARC - PowerPC, etc...

CISC is the base instruction set for x86 processors =)

The A4 used a Cortex A9 processor, and a PowerVR gpu, just like every other single core chip. I am betting the A5 uses two A9s and possibly a PowerVR or a nvidia based gpu.

The Tegra 2 uses two A9s, and i'm guessing the chip is very similar.
