Bang for the buck

I'm choosing between 3 budget cards and i wanted opinions on which one is the best

the cards are
SAPPHIRE HD4670 1GB DDR3 128BIT
Inno3D GT240 512ddr5 128bit hdmi(or 1gb ddr3) which is better for a 19" monitor
Palit 9800GT 512ddr3 256bit

their prices are almost all the same

9800gt, is old but its better than the others. the gt240 has only 35gb/s of bandwith(more or less) and the 9800 57gb/s for a 19" is a good option but dont push it.
BTW how much money do you have save for.... that can help people here for giving you other choices. for ex: 9800gtx/hd 4850 1gb/ or just ask here you can find a good deal.

are you looking for low power consumption, high performance, what, the most efficient is the GT240 the fastest is the 9800GT

and the GT240 GDDR5 has about the same bandwitdth as the 9800GT.

before i say go with the 9800... what's the rest of your system specs? we'll want to make sure your psu will hold up.

In that same price range you should be able to get a HD 5670. that should give you good performance and low power use.

Or, I hate to tell you this, but one of the best cards you can get right now is the GTX460(which I personally own the EVGA version of) Is about 160$ if you ever want to upgrade to something with a lot of performance increase over the 9800GT. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004DKWLB4/?tag=tec06d-20

True, true. I personally absolutely refuse to buy ATI cards, because of their crappy support and drivers.

I've owned both the 5550 and the 5850, and they were both absolutely horrible. Installed the drivers before I installed the cards, uninstalled all old drivers. Had nothing but microstuttering and artifacting with both. Went with one GTX460 and have had no problems at all.

Your personal failures does not make an entire line of top selling products crap. It just means your personal situation was either a failure on your part or a defective product. I hate it when people have 1 bad experience with something and disregard an entire company of other products.

I have owned a 4770, 5770, 5850, 4850, and I have used practically every driver released by AMD for the last 2 years. I have not had maybe 2 problems with the drivers. Both of which was fixed promptly with hotfix releases. Neither of which stopped me from pwning vets in BFBC2 or playing Mass Effect.

I owned two 5850's from their release date and they served me very well. I just wanted to own the top end GPU for a change and the GTX 580 serves me well now.

I'd happily own either brand. Let's not forget Nvidia make colossal driver mistakes on ocassion (apart from the release drivers for the 590, there was also the fan stalling, card killing drivers last year...)

My GTX 295 was noisy and 'meh'. Two 5850's destroyed it.

But my GTX 580 performs as well as they did and does it quieter. My next card? Could well be AMD 7 series.

I didn't say the entire line was crap. They can be very good cards when they want to be, just like NVIDIA cards. I'm just stating because of my past experiences with their customer support and driver issues, I'll stick with what I know.

The GTX 580 is a very stable card, because NVIDIA has had a while to get it right from the GTS/GTX series. Now, as I own an OEM board, I can't very well CrossFire, or SLI, so I can't comment on that.
