Hey guys. Well these days when we look @ game reviews, we have two main sources. IGN and Gamespot. Well, they aren't always fair and sometimes bias.

So, I gladly opened this thread, where members of TPU can review any game they want for others to read, include photos aswell.

Just use the normal criteria.:

Story
Gameplay
Sound
Controls
Graphics
And finally a mark out of 10!

Thankyou all, if mods could sticky this pwease? :)

What makes you think reviews here wouldn't be biased as well?
I think we can all agree that CoD = crap, amirite?
*gets the hose*
No flame!

More then 1 person can review a game, I'll make a table and include what the game got out of 10 reviewed by various users. Sorry but I have put some time thinking into this, and there is nothing bias about it when you have many different opinions.

Well, we used to have a site dedicated to this, but it crapped out. If this gets a sticky, I will gladly pick up where I left off and continue my reviews.

That is a nice plan. If I can find a game rental store near me, count me in. :)

Let's see how this goes. If it turns out decent and not just a crap filled, moderating nightmare, hate thread, I'll gladly sticky it.
Discussion is always welcome, but no flaming or trashing other peoples' reviews and no thread crapping, or infractions will be the applied with extreme prejudice.
Threads like these tend to go south quickly ... consider yourselves warned.

Try your best to remain objective and try to be reasonably verbose with your opinions.
The graphics suck. <-- bad. Doesn't tell us why they are bad.
Even though the engine performs admirably, the graphics looked dated for a new release. <-- good.

You get the idea.

I'm looking forward to seeing some good reviews.

Let the reviews begin !!

This idea interests me, but I haven't been able to get into new games lately so I'm not sure how much I could contribute :/

Great idea for a thread and I for one will be contributing at some point. I think it's important we keep it a flame free/open minded thread. We all love games right? Let's enjoy it and I look forward to some good reviews.

Ive been planning on doing some video reviews and such(years in the making), while I can write very well constructed reviews, I prefer to improvise.

Unfortunately Im a lazy piece of shit, so we'll see how that goes.

@Xeno : So review older games.

Fair enough, because the only upcomming game that I know for a fact I am playing is Magic The Gathering Duel of the Planswalker 2012 xD

I also plan on getting BF3 and maybe DS3, but I have to play through the DS3 demo when I get home :x

So, here's an example of what a review will be like:

STORY: August 20th, 2020. You are a special operative from the American Army, in your possession a Nano Suit, which allows you to have many powers and advantages in the line of fire . You have arrived to a distant island along the Phillipines. Many distress signals have been recovered and it is you mission to find out what is happening. The story starts off slow. You are immediately dropped onto the island with very little background, but it quickly fills in that gap with action. The plot eventually begins to unfold and reaches a very large climax. It has a solid story line. A 7/10 from me.

Gameplay: It's fast and very fun. It has MANY options thanks to such an open environment Crysis provides to you. Whether you want to go stealth in stealth mode, or zip around and punch everyone in speed mode, it's up to you. Go all out on the base? or slowly pick out each one by one. Run across the beautiful beach? or take the highground in the forest? The possibilities are limitless and you will definitely play Crysis more than once. AI is ok...sometimes you get the random situation when they stand in front of you or just look at while you blow them apart with your gun. The game also offers realtime gun customisation. Want to make a stealthy appearance? Just put a silencer on your gun, throughout the game you unlock many attachments making it fun to find new items scavenged around. Probably one good thing is that some parts of the environment are destructive, for example, you see 5 soldiers run into an old shack, chuck a frag in there and the shack will collapse in real time. Their are only a few types of enemys, North Korean Soldiers, North Korean Nano Suit Soldiers and the Aliens. They are all met throughout different parts of the game. 8.5/10

Nano suit powers

Sound: Sound design is good. Guns sound realistic and the sound of the bushes and leaves crackling beneath your feet is awesome. Especially hearing birds and waterfalls off in the distance, or it be soldiers shouting tactics. A really good job here, 9/10.

An alien, (blurred so I don;t spoil it)

Controls: Controls are similar to a normal fps, very easy to grasp. 10/10

Graphics: Sorry, let me clean my keyboard. Crysis has amazing graphics and easily surpasses many games of today, even being a DX10 title. It's amazing how during gameplay you can just wonder off and find your self in a trance and admiring all the amazing details they have put into there game. Extremely good! 10/10

In conclusion, I give the game a 8.5 out of 10. It's a meaty shooter (8-12hrs) and great fun. You will surely love this game! :)

Maybe you could do an addition; like a "Fun Time" section to show how much longevity the game has got. After you've completed the game, how much more fun can you have?
For example; I used to enjoy chucking explosive barrels on the back of a jeep, putting C4 over it and driving it into a base, diving out and blowing it up taking out a whole bunch of enemies.
Just a thought, and may only apply to a few games, but a thought nonetheles.
