Okay we've had our fun, time to be helpful. Please post a screenshot of ctrl-alt-delete (aka task manager) with all the running tasks listed. From there, we can isolate what your virus is. And other then that, yes, download Avast, run the boot time scan, and press "delete all" when it finds the culprit :).

Oh yeah, get rid of AVG BEFORE running Avast, or else the two AV programs will kill each other. When I got a virus on my computer, this website helped tremendously in finding what was bad and not bad.

That file shouldn't be there for starters, so if it actually can't find it it's good. Can't you reinstall IE7 after you got rid of viruses with some anti virus application? It might just fix whatever problem IE has.

i dont know what version the free one is,but mine is 7.5pro.i was under the impression that the pro version has extra stuff.

i have actually paid for quite a few programs i use all the time-
alcohol120%/everest ultimate/nero7 premium/3dmark 06/win dvd 7 premium/nvidia dvd decoder.so is it just me that pays for software then? certain stuff,if i use it alot and it seems useful,i will pay for it.most of them, alcohol especially is updated regularly, which means you cant use the benefits of the newer version, unless you pay for it.

anyway, what is the BEST anti virus program, free or otherwise?
