Could you be more specific?

AMD has never been a big one on marketing...seemingly, us enthusiasts do more marketing for them than they do themselves.

I mean, they dropped a comic book the other day(to coincide with thier presence @ comiccon)...other than that, what are you looking for?

They need a good CEO. Kinda much to expect any direction from a headless company, and when it does have a head, it's tied with a leash to the board of directors...

yea well i figure as much lol. does amd have any advantage other than best bang for the buck? like how the new APU is doing? AMD's latest tech vs Intel's latest tech? their PC, mobile, laptop front etc... i think there are lots of things but i'm kinda out of the loop in their new products

Have you checked the latest reviews? They should give you a good idea on their "latest tech".

that depends on whether you see their "mess-ups" (unlockable CPU's and GPU's) as accidental or deliberate...

i haven't seen AMD marketing these mistakes though.

It's not that AMDs core isn't without a direct vision of what they want to do, technology-wise, more that thier focus on marketing doesn't exactly hit consumers directly. I mean, Intel has some commercials and stuff, but they aren't exactly
out there" when it comes to marketing either.

I'll give you this to chew on:

Within the next 6 years he wants to have a first generation holodeck operational. A first generation holodeck would be composed of a 180 degree hemispherical display with both positionally and phase accurate sound. We’ll also need the pixel pushing power to make it all seem lifelike. That amounts to at least 100 million pixels (7 million pixels for what’s directly in front of you, and the rest for everything else in the scene), or almost 25 times the number of pixels on a single 30” display.

For the console win:

What looks to be a "done deal" at this point is that AMD will be the GPU choice on all three next generation consoles. Yes, all the big guns in the console world, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, are looking very much to be part of Team AMD for GPU. That is correct, NVIDIA, "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" But NVIDIA already knew this, now you do too.

Once bulldozer based APU's come out, I think they are going after the HPC market in a big way. I don't understand most of the technical aspects, but GPGPU's are supposed to be quite good at certain types of raw number crunching. Add to that the integer prowess of the BD design plus it's ability to still kick ass in floating point (hopefully anyway) and I think they could own that market.

On the low end, I think they are shooting for ultra-low wattage APU's that will be suitable for smartphones and tablets - IOW x86 chips running any x86 OS you please.

Their win in the console space has already been detailed.

And then there is the next generation of APU's code named Trinity which will be 50% faster than the Llano series that was just introduced. This will have a BD core and series 6xxx graphics (sorry, this is redundant of my first paragraph).
