Tpu irc?

I know this isn't the right forum, but is there a TPU IRC server/channel? Would be cool to be able to talk in real time to other TPU members. If no IRC, is anyone on any other chat type service? Thanks!

I was thinking a mod should create #techpowerup on freenode so that everyone can join in no matter what OS, etc.

teamspeak does offer text chat, but most of us don't use it. We're a tough crowd, I guess, but everyone is on voice, as it's just so much easier. that way we can chat while gaming/working/whatever.

Teamspeak even works on iphones and andriod phones, too, so it's not an OS-specific offering.

It's as close to an "official" TPU Teamspeak that we're going to get. There are multiple channels in the server. Anyone can use one for a chat channel. We have had live chat on TPU in the past, more than once and it has failed due to lack of interest. I don't see returning to that anytime soon.
