I think it would make the forum more interesting and dynamic. Sometimes you really don't agree with someone's post and it's a polite way of letting them know, without having to post about it and risk a flame war.

Here's how the buttons look:

And here it is in action, with both buttons applied generously: :)

And the problem is the argument behind that reason (example: fanboys).
I see it as a harmless idea and an entertaining feature, but I also think it needs more "lab-testing" over at GN, before it can be introduced to TPU.
So I'm voting "Not sure".

Oh, have no fear, I use Firefox and have just upgraded to version 6. It was convenient to screenshot it using IE, that's all.

Anyway, I see the sissies voting no are currently in the lead. :shadedshu lol Well, I've only just posted this, so we'll see how the poll plays out after a couple of days.

Also, enabling No Thanks is no big deal, as it can be pulled at any time if it doesn't work out. I wonder what inspired our dear leaders to add it to GN? I did ask for it, but that was months ago, so I don't think it was that, lol.

I think disagreeing with someone on a specific topic is apart a forum, and it creates room for argumentation and also learning from others, rather than just pressing a no thanks button and leaving it at that. I personally think people here are good at not starting "flame-wars" and rather argue on a formal way, and in many cases change their point of view.

PS: I accidentally voted Yes xD

Hmmm... it can go both ways, really. I think it needs to be tried before writing it off.

The reason why you don't see too many obvious flame wars here is because the mods put the fires out pretty quickly - which is a good or a bad thing, depending on the particular discussion and your point of view. It gets a bit frustrating when a conversation one might feel is simply a bit "heated", but a mod thinks has gone too far and closes the thread or posts a warning, which can be a shame. Ultimately, judging this isn't hard and fast though and will always be open to interpretation.

Well I'm just thinking, if a trend happens that people who disagree use the nothanks button and people that agree post up only, it would become one sidedly dull. Some semi-active people would most likely take use of the button more often than actually bothering to speak up their opinion, at least thats what I think might happen. I could in ways understand a "Yes thanks" and a "No Thanks" button, to kind of put the two in equilibrium, but if it has to be one-sidedly no thanks, personally I believe a trend might occur.

Well, as W1zzard's voted No, then I guess it's not happening. :ohwell:

Still it's interesting to see that the Yes vote has been leading for most of the last couple hours and is now neck and neck with the No vote.

Same can be said for the "Thanks" button as well. No thanks for "No thanks". But you deserve a thanks, oh and thank you.

It's an interesting idea, but it might prove a bit too disruptive. Who knows.

My main issue is I tend to use the "Thanks" button as, well, thanks - rather than a statement of agreement. In that vein, the No Thanks button is either a statement of disagreement without a counterpart, or potentially flame-baiting. That's just me though.
