It will work fine for movies and media stuff, but I wouldn't trust it to play many games.
There really isn't any difference in horsepower required between a 25" monitor and a 40" tv if they are both running at 1080p.

? If your 40" has resolution of 1024x768 its perfectly fine
Even if its 1920x1080 its more than doable.
