Whats the whole Mini Itx vibe?

I use big cases for ATX motherboards and big graphics cards. But I'm particularly interested in Mini Itx, and might build a Zotac Mini Itx system. All I know is that motherboards with Mini Itx form factors are small and a lot of them have integrated parts..

Can someone give me some facts? Thanks. :rockout:

Specifics? They're just small form factors (often have an external power supply).

I think the general assumption is that they are the lesser powerful boards due to their size but can be great for teeny-tiny HTPC/LAN build and still do pack a punch. Were you looking at any in particular?

The Zotac Z68 ITX Wifi. Possible Specs:

i3 2120
GTS 450 AMP!/GTX 460 AMP!
8GB Ram

I notice it does have one PCIe slot for compatibility with Zotac cards, but I'm not sure you could fit the GTX 460 in with the processor heatsink.

Yes, you will be able to fit the GTX460 in with the heatsink, the only problem is whether your case allows.

If you wanted to get a nice setup like that you could watercool it if you had the money but it would be cheaper than a full rig as you have less area to cover. Are you goin to go for 1600 speeds?

I'd like to. I already have a full rig, but I want a secondary ITX one.

LAN box: A small computer for use at LAN parties or gaming weekends or what you want to call it.

I would personally go with the Lian Li.

its not impossible, but ITX is not designed for such things. you'll have to design a system very carefully for physical space, cooling, and power requirements. you cant ask such questions without specifying a case and PSU, and then you'd be able to answer it yourself.

You don't want your PC claustrophobic because then air flow suffers and then noise and dust goes up. Just a tip: Cable management is a must on this rig seeing as you have little room to play with.

Also go with the Lian. Looks better and probably won't collect as much dust.

I have to agree with frick! I love that Lian Li look. the antec is stupid, I dont even like the ATX version either. If you have pets or a house that collects alot of dust then I def would not recommend it.

check my sig, mobo is a great clocker very stable and with my lian li pc-q08b case i was able to use full size psu and also have enuf room for my 3 slot asus 580 if i ever decided to use it for lan box

SILVERSTONE Sugo Series SG07-BW Black Aluminum / S...

The SG02 is probably the better deal of the two with it's larger footprint and ability to accept a psu of your choice.

it's neat. fun to build. but once you do it's just another pc, nothing special. i went back to my bigger case so i could fit a dual slot 5850 in it to game

i kept using the mini itx board though, and it w/13 530 works admirably
