Im thinking of buying a 7600gt 256 mb from evga for 99.00 and was wondering how you like your 7600gt. My kids play at 1440x900 resolution and im wondering how this card performs in games and how you like it. I know I can get faster more expensive cards but I don't need one right now so if you have this card or one similar plz reply but I really don't wish to hear any comments on 7900 1800 1900 0r 8800 series cards I know all about them and have owned the following cards recently 6600gt ,5900 ,x850xt, x1800gto, x1800xt andx1900xt. Im looking for a good budget card for the next year or so so please limit your comments to a 7600 series or 1600 series pci express 16 cards. thx for any and all help

in that case the x1650xt is a good choice although not sure of the $ but its better than the 7600gt and is based on the same r570 core as the x1950pro cards its the best budget/mid-midrange? card imo lol

EDIT: just saw 99 is that $ wont get much for that tbh, surprised you said you can get a 7600gt if so id say get that doubt youll get any better for $99

For x1600Pro (my ex-card) not bad but if you or your kids like games look nice & with all settings on, get something faster! That x1650xt is good choice for sure.

Is that 7600GT for $99 a real 7600GT? I have seen so called 7600GTs with DDR2 (not DDR3) and preform close to a 7600GS then a 7600GT. Real 7600GT's are around $130.

Newegg has a X1900GT around $155 and I have seen referbs of this card at newegg for $120. This would be the best card in the price range your looking at.

EDIT
Newegg now raised the price to $169 now.

Newegg has a MSI X1650XT for $139

TBH, the x1300XT is probably a really good deal. There is a revew of it here and it can really fly, plus it's only like $80 shipped.

x1300xt is x1600Pro with new name. But if it is just $80, go for it. And 7600gt for $99, even better!

The 1300XT or the 1600pro cannot match the 7600Gt, the 1650Pro IS the faster and IMO better card but when you look at the price differences IMO the 7600GT is best "bang for Buck".

I had that same card for a little while and if you can get one for $99 it's a good deal. Plenty of power for your kids PC. I never used it at 1440x900 resolution, but it should be fine for the kids and it's much better than x16xx pro.

It wont, DDR2 memory and a LOT slower than the 7600GT, you would struggle to play a recent game on medium settings there at all.

Edit: sorry forgot to "quote"....thsi was in response to your 1300XT link.

Definately not a "badboy", but it is a very good budget card for you kids anyway. Since it is like the x1600 pro, depending on processor speed, ram and such on your other computer, it will run bf2 at decent to high settings with a good res. I know this because a buddy of mine had one. Im sure it will run most game well. :)

anyone know if I bought the one 7600gt then later bought a 7600gt for say a lower amount because the price will drop in the future what would two 7600gts in sli be equal two.

I think around or slightly better than your 1900XT performance if both setups were on your current rig, I have heard of 2 x 7600Gt's in SLI acheiving....... dependant on system specs 11-12000 in 3D Mark 2005.

Yea those 7600GT's are bad. If you payed $200 on 2 7600GT's you will beat the price of a ATI Radeon X1900XT. And it will run better being in SLi..what a setup, I would go for it if I was you.

I was thinking of buying just one and maybe in the future adding another when the prices really drop

TBH, they are never gonna get much below $99 ever, you just need to look around today at prices for 6800Ultras or 850XT's, they come down so much but they never quite give them away at ridiculous prices well certainly not in a couple of years.

Not necessarily, the 9550 I had now, "built by ATI" was like $120 at Newegg about 1 year ago, and it was $140 at Bestbuy because that is where I got it. Now if you go to newegg it is like 49.99. Haven't checked the exact price. But at bestbuy it is down to like $89.99, or maybe $100 bucks at most. Things do drop quick, just depending on what you are looking for.

damn you got ripped off $140 = £70ish lol you could of got a x1300/x1600/7300gt/9800/x700pro etc etc for that price a year ago :twitch:

i wouldnt pay $50 for one of those now you could probably get a 6200 for around that and that would beat a 9550

You got ripped off paying that much for a 9550 a year ago. The 7600GT was and is a good midrange card that was going for about $200 about 4 months ago, but the 9550 was never in that in that class. Two 7600GTs in sli are faster than a X1900XT, but the IQ won't be as good.

Well this was not the Christmas of the new year of 07, but of the new year of 06, so yea over a year. but I got it at Bestbuy, and they are always usually high on prices. I don't know how much it was on Newegg, I don't even thing I knew about Newegg then, lol.
