I think it would be better to upgrade your GPU before spending the money on a full cover block. It's a pretty big investment, around $100, to spend on something you aren't going to keep or be happy with.

That being said, you could invest in a nice radiator, pump and cpu block, since most cpu blocks are compatible with AM2+, AM3, and 1155. But then you also need at least two or three good fans, and they are around $15 a pop, as well. Water cooling is a benefit for three basic reasons: 1) better cooling for overclocking; 2) quieter than air cooling if you have better fans and a good rad; 3) the sheer coolness of it all. If you don't want at least 2 of these options, I wouldn't bother.

Congrats!

I don't think your video card needs water cooling, maybe the CPU if you want to shot for an extreme overclock. Sorry, I don't have experience with water cooling gear.

EDIT: +1 for MT Alex's post

What would be some good rads(dual 120, and prob a separate 120), pumps, and am3 blocks?

You snuck in there lol. I've been talking to a local dealer about a 890GPA-UD3H.. I would like something more blue and black and better though.... Yeah I know it's only colors but it matters to me :3

Definitely upgrade mobo/cpu/gpu before custom water.

what's the point of buying expensive custom water if you don't have high end gear?

it might run a bit cooler, but it won't make your hardware any more powerful.

Why do you want to go water? Do your components get too hot, do you plan on squeezing the last few possible MHz out of that CPU before dry ice is required, or just because you can?

Anyways, before investing in water gear, be sure you have the right components. There's virtually no need except maybe noise to watercool your video card. Also, if you're totally new to watercooling, its best to start small - just the CPU. Trust me when I started, I wanted to go all out - CPU, GPUs and MOSFETs. TPU pulled me down to reality and I do not regret it. Its a whole different thing than just slapping an air cooler to a mobo. I don't mean to scare you, but you must know that you have to have a certain knowledge and experience.

I started with a CPU loop and expaned it later with two GPUs. See my thread here. Maybe you can learn from it.

Definitely focus on your hardware first. Overclocking with 667 RAM won't take you too far as to justify the need of watercooling - except if you live in an area with high ambient temperatures I guess. Soa new motherboard would be great, new RAM... maybe a new CPU if you switch architectures. Then you can start thinking about watercooling. And then maybe if you like you can upgrade the video card and watercool that, too.

Also don't take watercooling as a game - I had a motherboard and a brand new and expensive 5850 die (= drown) on me because of me not checking enough. Again, not meaning to scare you, but I and I'm sure a lot other people here too want to make sure you're not throwing money out the window :)

Oh, all I wanted to start off was CPU, i was going to try it out on a old non working mobo first till I get it right. I've already read tons of things on how to install watercooling, that's why I want to do it lol. Also, I thought I updated that.. I don't have that ram anymore. It's gone to my sister/mom. I'm running 1066 ripjaws :3 It's still kinda slow, but better than 667

also, this has all been moved here http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152262

Avoid EK. I heard even those 'EN' blocks still corrode.

hi mate,i just purchased an antec kuhler h20 620 today,it arrives tomorrow probably,if you like i will post results after install, some pics and my opinion,

i chose water for low noise, and it gets very hot here in summer in aus, and,my case wouldnt fit most air coolers, its a first for me anyhow, cost was 100$ delivered, apparently the antec is relatively quiet, and performs well enough too, hope i made right choice!!!!

hope the pump lasts mainly, but its a closed system,so should be right against spillage.

good luck with your search,:)

He was looking for man size water coolers, like this:

Like others, I think you should upgrade your rig before watercooler, but if you are waiting for Bulldozer etc, unless you want to start out with a bang the XSPC Rasa kits should be good enough for now.
