I recently decided to play some of my old games on the original playstation, but I want to be able to do it while at the computer - so I downloaded the latest ePSXe emulator and got a BIOS and such.

I got an OpenGL plugin for modern graphics cards and it seems to work great. I'm using my PS3 controller and everything seems to be working perfectly.

The configurator for the emulator though is quite detailed. I want to get the best possible picture and settings.

This is what I'm using right now:

#begin config
Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series

Resolution/Color:
- 1280x960 Window mode
- Internal X resolution: 2
- Internal Y resolution: 3
- Keep psx aspect ratio: on
- No render-to-texture: off

- Filtering: 6
- Hi-Res textures: 1
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 1024 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: off
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 200.0

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 3
- Framebuffer uploads: 1

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: off
- Screen filtering: off
- Shader effects: 1/4
- Flicker-fix border size: 0
- GF4/XP crash fix: off
- Game fixes: off [00000000]
#end config

Anyone have any experience with this emulator? I'm mostly just playing some square games, like FFIX and FF Tactics. I want to maximize my experience. If anyone has any tips or knows any special plugins or anything that would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. I don't personally pirate anything. I have way too much of a conscience these days.

I own all of the games, I just want to play them at my workstation without having to move the playstation over here and convert the signal into my monitor, etc, etc.

This is just a lot easier...

So I'm pretty much good to go with the stock setup, and the bios/gpu plugin I got? It seems to be running flawlessly so far. I'm testing FFIX right now.

*Can I convert my playstation CD's into ISO's? Will the standard ISO format work or do I need to do anything special to rip them? I don't want to have to get out my CD's every time I want to play for a few minutes...

it's useless, neither pal nor ntsc games don't even come close to that

If you want to get the best experience then you have to download shaders pack and put them in corresponding plugins folder. Without shader effects 99% of psx games make no sense on pc. There's a million and one guide about good shaders and blah here's the most simple one.

Gracias!

Thanks for humoring an epsxe noob!

Ah I see what I did. I installed the plugin but forgot to select it in the config. All is well now!

Looks great now!
