They should both be able to overclock very well. Both have excellent coolers.
It boils down to this: Is it worth it to drop the extra $50 dollars to get the gtx 580?
Personally, I would get the 580 if I was spending today.

Hello, I think you can think about gigabyte 580UD. its three inclined fans is big and quiet. the heat dissipation is good! In the other side, I think MSI's fans is too loud~~~

Just out of curiosity, who are you buying through that sells a GTX580 for $300? that is seriously cheap in Australia (Usually up around $500+) and that is with parity on the US dollar.

why create 2 threads on the same topic?
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153511

and are you going based on a stellar purchase deal or are you factoring in a selling price for your 6950?

the 580 does offer a good deal more performance over a single 6950, but if you're including selling your card in that 300$ price, a single 580 can't get anywhere near 2 6950's in crossfire.

edit: make that 3 threads :banghead:

seriously you only need 1 thread for 1 topic. And you changing video cards is 1 topic regardless of what you change to.
