Phishing Attempt?

Got an email telling me I needed to change my Sony Entertainment Network password. I don't quite believe it, but figured I'd post here in case others come across it, can verify it's legit or not.

To change the password for your Sony Entertainment Network Account, please click on the following link.

This link expires 24 hours from the time that it was sent. The link directs you to the Sony Entertainment Network Account Management web site, where you can enter a new password.

I removed the link from the email.

Check the url. If it doesn't link directly to a domain owned by Sony (www.network-tools.com and do a whois query), it's fake. Keep in mind that a link can say one thing and link somewhere else. Always examine where it actually links to, not the obvious text.

Sony would never send an email out linking you to a third party site they didn't mention in a press release. Most likely the link looks fake just on the face value of it.

Beside you didn't ask for a password change did you?
They would also refer to you with your user name

if you click the link it will in all certainty take you to a site thats going to do its damm best to infect your computer

I don't ever click links through emails like that. Just go right to the site and check. I get fake Blizzard emails all the timel ike that, I just go to Battle.net and check myself.

Me too, Outlook put them in junk email though.

But yes, do not trust anything like that.

Same, the URL the link uses is always the giveaway. They never point to battle.net or blizzard.com
